The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges is not just a restaurant — it’s part of the story of my life.

There are places that serve good food, and then there are places that become part of your soul. The Mark has been my second home for years, a sanctuary where countless unforgettable moments have unfolded — some joyful, some deeply personal, all meaningful.

The steak? Unmatched. Simply the best I’ve had in New York — rich, flavorful, always perfectly prepared. And beyond the food, it’s the atmosphere and the people that make it extraordinary.

The entire team — from the waitstaff to the management — have always welcomed me with warmth, grace, and true professionalism. They have never once made me feel like just another guest. They made me feel seen, known, and truly cared for.

In a city full of luxury and noise, The Mark stands out as a timeless space where elegance meets authenticity. Every visit reminds me why I return again and again — not just for the taste, but for the connection.

Thank you for being a place where I’ve felt at home — during celebrations, reflections, and everything in between.

The restaurant itself is fantastic. I would argue that the patrons are the worst part. The mark attracts an interesting crowd. Would recommend if you’re nearby for a walk in. If I was a tourist and had limited days I wouldn’t sprint to this spot. So close to a five star experience. So so close.

We stayed at the lovely Mark in New York City. I will start this review by saying how wonderful and courteous the staff was. Couldn’t have asked for more as far as hospitality goes. We checked in and had a late lunch via their room service. We were completely surprised at the quality of food we received. I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad salad, which was around $64 (yikes!) And a chicken noodle soup which was about $35+. When the food arrived, just by looking at it, you could tell it was completely underwhelming. The chicken was dry and looked as if it was sitting under a heat lamp for hours. It also was one piece of chicken breast and not cut just not appetizing from the start. Unfortunately, the food was not up to basic standards. The dressing look like it wast bubbly/foamy. I was not sure if it was bad or intentional. The dressing itself was not great.. Not appetizing in the least. The soup had absolutely zero flavor. No matter how much salt added it was flavorless. The broth tasted basically like water. We ended up spending about $130 with the soup and the salad. As I said the service was wonderful. Unfortunately the food was awful. It did remind me of hospital food and I hate to say that because again everyone at the Mark is amazing.

My Experience:

Stopped by with a friend and we loved the elegant, art-deco atmosphere—it feels luxurious without being stiff . We shared:
• Pea soup — bright, fresh, and topped with a light Parmesan foam (a Jean‑Georges staple!) ()
• My friend had pasta—the fettuccine with Meyer lemon and Parmigiano—it was beautifully balanced: creamy, zesty, and expertly cooked
• They also ordered a fresh salad—seasonal, crisp, and perfectly dressed

The service was seamless and warm—the team knows how to make you feel both welcomed and well cared for . It’s a day-to-night spot that works beautifully if you’re in the neighborhood—whether for power lunches, post-show dinners, or just a luxe experience.

Highlights:

✅ Ideal location inside a celebrity-fave luxury hotel (meticulously designed by Jacques Grange)
✅ Menu variety—from comforting pea soup and pasta to fresh seafood, steaks, and Champagne snacks
✅ Outstanding service—professional, polished, but still approachable

This review is for the CHALET restaurant pop up for the holidays at the Mark. Its outside in covered chalet style add on. Felt like you were in Alsace.great fondue the best we ever had, delicious salad and the service was great. We wanted cocktails our waiter, I think k his name was Stephen had to shuttle between the hotel bar and the chalet. He did an amazing job. Great winter experience

Food: 4/5 – I highly recommend the Lamb Chops. However, I wish it had come with something other than light vegetables.
Service: 5/5 – Our waiter, Tony, was attentive, professional, gave great recommendations and friendly!
Atmosphere: 5/5 – This dark lit restaurant has a cool & calm atmosphere.

For a private event, sliding panels afforded privacy and cut down the noise from the main dining area. The service was attentive but unobtrusive. The food had hits and some misses. The fontina cheese pizza was excellent. The sea bass entree itself was done well but the accompanying vegetables seemed overcooked and had lost their bite. The salted caramel sundae was the only real disappointment because there was way too much popcorn and nuts for the amount of ice cream.

Pro tip: leave room for desert – service is the best – seating by the bar was much more relaxed and easy going.

Our server Jordan was very good but everyone from the hostess through the end was impeccable. Thanks for a great experience.

I’d skip the truffle pizza next time, could use maybe some olive oil or something to up the flavor in my opinion – but who am I to disagree with the chef. We enjoy many of his restaurants in the city.

Ive been here many times and have complained about the slow service a few times. We had a joke going that the check would take 30min to come. Today everything was perfect and service was truly amazing. I was offered a free cappuccino to go and had a great experience. The burrata is the best i have had in nyc and salmon was perfect. Drinks are strong and highly recomend you give it a try!
