I recently visited Don Alejo Mexican Restaurant and had a fantastic experience! The location is very convenient, situated right on Highway 31 in Hartselle, making it easy to find with plenty of accessible parking. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that is perfect for a relaxing meal. The service was exceptional; the staff was incredibly polite and attentive, and the food was served promptly despite the restaurant being busy. Everything tasted fresh and truly authentic. It is an excellent spot for either a family night out or a casual get-together with friends. I will definitely be coming back!

We order from here all the time (even though there are similar restaurants closer to us) but after the way we were treated tonight, we will go elsewhere. Manager gaslit me about what I ordered even though I have the receipt. All I wanted was a partial refund for the items we did not receive/wrong item we received. He refused so the bank is dealing with it now.

This was my first time eating here and my husband’s first time also. We had heard good things and wanted to try it. We called in and order to go. When I walked in the music was so loud I could barely hear the guy at the register. We both ordered a shredded chicken taco salad and a small cheese dip. The cheese dip was really good but the salsa was extremely spicy hot. As for the taco salads, we basically paid for a head of lettuce. There was hardly any chicken in either one. At first I thought they had forgotten to put the chicken in it until I found a tiny bit in the corner, both were the same way. So I can’t tell you how the chicken actually tasted because it was literally all lettuce. That was the most expensive head of lettuce I’ve ever bought! The sour cream was good though. The chips were thick and hard.. unfortunately it wasn’t a very good meal. If I was a rabbit I would’ve given them at least 4 stars.

The food was better than average, as well as the atmosphere and service. I could tell the people working at this restaurant are very hard working and caring, and it was nice to eat at a restaurant like this. The reason why I’m not giving five stars is because I couldn’t tell you something that this restaurant has that sticks out from the rest. Of course, they have an extensive menu, great staff, food, and atmosphere, but I think there needs to be refinement in some capacity in order to make a greater impact.

The service was very quick, the restaurant is clean and the food is delicious. Our server was very attentive. A very surprising gem in Alabama. We ordered the #7 and the shrimp chimichanga and it was very affordable.

The food we received was basically inedible. This taco shell is abysmal. Note that the taco salad wasn’t as runny before we added cheese dip to try and resuscitate it. The steak was charred, and tough. It was like eating rubber. Salsa left a gross aftertaste in my mouth, and was over salted. I was given instant rice that was over microwaved. All together just a terrible experience. I visited because they had good reviews, but it’s apparent that those are a little dated.

The food was flavorful and done exactly how we wanted it. The waitress was excellent she was quick to fill our drinks and make sure we were satisfied. We really enjoyed our time and the enviroment was open and bright without being crowded
