Big J’s did our wedding catering and when I spoke with my guests many of them said it was the best wedding food they have ever had! The food tasted wonderful, the service was top-notch, and no waiting. Communication and meeting with the staff before the wedding was easy and reassuring. Finally, the pricing was so reasonable and we were able to take home all of the leftovers and scraps! Could not recommend more! Our menu was ribeye steak, baked potato, garden salad, rolls, and charcuterie cups. We provided drinks (lemonade and unsweetened tea) and they did refills for our guests if requested too. Loved working with them!

KUDOS to Big J’s BBQ for a SCRUMPTIOUS catering experience! They catered our staff picnic for about 75 people and EVERYONE raved about the deliciousness of the food…and how nice their team interacted with our team. Thank you, thank you for making our picnic a success!!!

Catered our wedding. Most amazing everything-great food, beautiful display of so many different foods. Great quality and quantity. Had more than expected in numbers and still had some leftovers. Would definitely use again. Thank you so much for helping to make my daughter’s wedding day beautiful.

Hello, my name is Josh and I’m an addict. I’ve been a huge fan of Big J and his ability to deliver a quality product for a few years now, but recently my addiction really spun out. My other dealers I would go to for a fix just weren’t cutting it any longer. They were skimming and cutting the product into a disgrace. I spent countless nights dreaming of the next time J would be catering an event or wedding I happen to be attending. The time between tasting the delicious, juicy, and tenderly smoked brisket seemed longer that an Alaskan Feb feels. I found myself depressed and hopeless that perhaps my last encounter with Big J’s would somehow be the last. I searched all over the Valley looking for a wedding or an event to crash. I just needed a little bump; a little something to get me through the pain till next time. I promised myself it wouldn’t go on forever- I’d get it under control. But then… they nailed the coffin- they opened up with a full menu at Band of Brothers in Wasilla. And now I’m a full fledge addict with unlimited access to the best product to hit the streets of the Mat-su. I’m talking brisket burritos w/mac-n-cheese and sautéd veggies, burgers, street tacos, pulled pork, coleslaw, tritip sandwiches, breakfast burritos, biscuits and gravy, and tons more. Even though they’re closed on Sundays, I can now stock up Saturday to get me through Sunday. Go see them at Band of Brothers 2050 N. Merciful Cir.

Oh boy. I can say the food was pretty okay and the 2 workers helping that we paid for setting up food was much appreciated. We had also paid for a bartender service. Absolutely a disaster for the bartender service. Not only did the bartender call out sick which is understandable but the owner stepped in and it was a nice gesture but the disrespect given to me the bride and the owner of the property my mother. I was ready to kick them out the moment I walked into my reception. I also let her know it’s not a problem I have family that is more than happy to help out and provided contact info. In return she replied “ obviously need a longer bartender call list, so I will be happy to meet her, and definitely to have the help with the first wave. I will arrive early with the buffet set up. See you this afternoon!”
Not one phone call was made. The owner in fact did not pour one drink the entire night and her first words to me was how messed up it was of me to write sex on the beach as Bliss on the beach. Now I wasn’t going to be so hash in this review but my view point unfortunately changed when requesting a refund for the bartender service and the disrespectfulness was again too far. Granit the pick up of a few tables was not intended but a great gesture mind you she told my cousins “you got it here I’m gonna go clean tables”
This is the email chain where the refund was requested “ Hi
Thank you for the catering food. With the bartender calling out and our cousins taking over bartending, we are requesting a refund for the bartender portion of the bill.”
“ Absolutely not. We provided a bartender. I offered for your relative to go any time she wanted. She chose to stay. When I was not behind the bar I was helping with all the extra food, and cleaning tables. I was there, and I was working, so there’s nothing to refund.
As far as i’m concerned my team and I went above, and beyond, dealing with all the outside food.”
Last thing the owner not once said anything nice the entire time besides apologies to my mom that my mom initiated it. She came up to me while I was seated during the wedding to laugh in my face multiple times because I had a lot of food left over. Which amazing because I have a lot of families that are not as fortunate that I was so blessed to be able to give them. It was also well communicated we would be providing food as well multiple times.
Good luck, overall the wedding was amazing and everyone else who worked the wedding was truly amazing. This was the only bad thing of the night. We also understand the frustration from being behind but that’s unfortunately how all weddings work and we kept our cocktail area separate from the food because we knew they would need the most time along with the family bringing food after the ceremony.
Have a great day

Big J’s BBQ was amazing! Service was quick, and the tri tip sandwich was remarkable! The price was great, and the atmosphere was perfectly Alaskan.

It’s literally not anything BBQ. It’s sandwiches and tacos and a coffee shop. I was so disappointed. I had brisket and ribs on my mind. I should’ve looked at the menu. Anyways. Rename your place. It’s not BBQ

Wonderful, kind, gracious service from beginning to end. Our son was married in Wasilla, 5 hours away from our home town, so I was nervous about arranging catering from a distance. Heather was amazingly helpful and quick to respond. The website is thorough and well-organized for selecting entrees. Jason’s delivery was precisely on time for our rehearsal dinner – and everyone RAVED about the smoked chicken, potatoes, and broccoli/cauliflower. Big J’s made feeding 40 rehearsal guests trouble free, easy, and delightful. Highly recommend!

Big J’s BBQ catered our wedding and was such a hit! They worked with us to customize our menu and gave us everything we wanted for an affordable price. They were easy to coordinate with and very pleasant at set up. They even had a wonderful bartender for our event. 10/10 recommend!
