Everyone knows everyone.
The service is great and so is the crowd.
The food? Meh. I had the chilli, no pics, lacked flavor and was serverd cold. The burger was served with a giant stale bun with a tiny patty. Remember “where’s the beef”? That was this burger.
I’ve been here about 6 times and I have noticed when crowded people are not ordering food.
Come here for the sports and live atmosphere but not the food.
(Although we arrived too early to catch happy hour,) happy hour starts at 4 p.m., which is a great time to enjoy drinks and food at reasonable prices.
(As we were leaving,) as soon as it turned 4 p.m., the restaurant filled up quickly. My husband is currently abstaining from alcohol, so we stuck to diet cola and lemonade. But when he’s allowed to drink again, I’m looking forward to enjoying beer and cocktails.

Update: I just got my credit card statement, and they added a dollar to what I had agreed to pay. If you do decide to dine here, make sure you pay cash or take a picture of your receipt and then check that it is the same when you get the statement. I am changing my rating to 1 star because they are unethical. (The food was still good, so that 5-star rating remains.)

Update again: Saw a credit on my credit card statement from this place, which was really nice, and I didn’t even have to call. For that, and the very kind and professional reply, I am reinstating the 5-star review!
Overall, this is a great spot to catch a game or have a beer or two with family and friends. Not only is it named after a dog (I’m a softy for dogs), the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere really top it off. I will be returning any time I find myself in the area
I honestly thought he was messing with me, I mean just having lunch with my co-workers. So I looked at him/her/they and said “really?”
Then he very aggressively got in my face as I was putting my lunch away to leave and just kept taunting me as if he wanted to fight. I was not putting my food away slow or anything and he was immediately all up in my face being extremely rude and honest to God aggressive. I considered that I might have to fight or wrestle this guy down and hold him until he calmed down. Nothing physical ended up happening but it sure seemed like he want to loose a fight real quick.
I get it, a little unusual to eat your own lunch at a restaurant, but I was in a group of five , four other construction workers ordering lunch, I just wanted to chat with them on our break.
I have been doing this my whole career, I almost always pack a lunch rather than eat out. This was the only time it was a problem To eat it with company.
He simply could have been polite, maybe ask nice and move on. Now I have to write the first review I have ever wrote. I usually don’t sweat the small stuff, but this employee was so out of line I felt the need to inform as many of the public as possible.
For whom it may concern. I currently work on a rather large construction site right up the road from this pub. I have been at this site for about a year and never heard of Berkeley’s until today. Me and about 100 other construction workers all eat lunch five days a week a few blocks away. I pack my lunch about %50 of the time but am often searching with my co workers for the new lunch spot. Had my experience not been so terrible because of this one employee I Guarantee I would have been back if the food looked even decent. I did not get to see the food because I was kicked out. Not to mention, we were the only table seated at the large empty restaurant. Business is booming, I understand running a restaurant is a super easy business venture only %90 fail. Good idea to shue away customers. Anyway there are 10 portable bathrooms on the jobsite. This job is probably close to 2 years before completion. In every one of the portable Johns there is now a sign warning people about the bar on the corner Berkeley’s. Unless you want to be in the pota pot all week long stay away from Berkeleys, entire crew with food poisoning.
Learn how to act right. You’re in the service business, use some humility.
Idiot..
