Smoked salmon and cream cheese eggs benadict: the star of our breakfast. It was so good. Eggs bennadict is so hot or miss for me but all of these ingredients really complimented each other well. Nothing was overwhelming.
Eggs, English muffins, potatoes and bacon: very good. Everything was seasoned well. My favorite was the potatoes. Nice and crunchy on the outside and seasoned really well.
Pancakes: This was my least favorite. The pancakes were a bit cold and could have been cooked through a bit more. But still very good. They came with syrup and a very nice raspberry jam which wasnt too overwhelmingly sweet.
Service: our waitress was really nice. She was friendly and brought us coffee and water regularly.
Atmosphere: very fun. Very eclectic. I love the architecture and the decore. It felt old and historic and fun! Overall a good experience.
We went there for lunch at their Courtyard Restaurant. As the name suggests, Courtyard Restaurant have nice courtyard, which seemed to be very popular. For us, it was a bit too hot on that day, so we decided to sit inside. There were not many sitting indoor, seems the outdoor seating was more popular.
We ordered Flagship Brewery Flight so we can try some of their beers made in their brewery. we chose six different types of beers; some dark, some fruity, and some light ones. Each one had distinctive flavors, and we enjoyed them all.
For food, I ordered Agnes’ Breakfast Sandwich, which was a nice sandwich, good size and all, but the price felt a bit high since it doesn’t come with any side. Overall, it was very satisfying. Our friend ordered a burger with side of fries or tots, and she went with tater tots. Their tots are quite good! We did add an order of their Cajun Tots to share, with peppercorn ranch. It had a nice kick to it, and was quite addictive!
My hubby went with JR’s Jumbo Deluxe and substituted the side with a soup, since we already had a additional order of tots to share. The soup was comforting, and the burger came loaded with protein. It was juicy and tasty.
We had a fun lunch, but unfortunately, the service was almost nonexistent. We felt like they focused more on the customer sitting outside, and we were completely forgotten. Due to this issue, the lunch took a very long time, causing us to cancel the next appointment we had on schedule. The server did apologize at the end when we talked to her about it, and gave us a few of discounts by giving us Happy Hour pricing on a couple of items we ordered. If it wasn’t for the lack of service, we would’ve enjoyed the experience much more.
Now for the bad.The service was terrible. I ordered a lemon water and soda to drink. Our food came before my drinks ( which took about 30min) and I had to ask for those as they were completely forgotten about. I ended up only drinking water and not getting a soda but was charged for one, had to ask for that to be taken off my check. Had to constantly flag down our server to ask for water refills and or check.
They need to work on the service, we got there before the big dinner rush so there really wasn’t a reason for it to be so bad.
Food was perfect. The greens were very fresh, and my chicken sandwich was really tasty! Great place for large groups!
Update, I came back with my husband for a date night. It was lovely! He liked the flight of beers and was pleasantly surprised to see you were surprised I have 4 stouts on tap!
After about twenty minutes we grabbed the server who moved us and asked who our new server was because we hadn’t seen them. “Oh, that would be me. I was giving you some time to settle in at the new table because the wait on food will be about thirty minutes.” His reply made no sense. If the wait for food was going to be long, why make it even longer by not taking our order?
Anyway, ordered food. It arrived much more quickly than estimated and it ws typical McMenamin’s fare– fine, but not amazing by any means.
