I came with my partner for noodles on a cold Saturday for lunch while visiting Baltimore. We were not disappointed! Although the area looks a bit sketchy, the inside of the restaurant is trendy with a slight retro feel. We were seated immediately and told that since it was happy hour the prices were a bit cheaper. While taking our order the server asked for dietary restrictions and allergies, a good sign at any restaurant that they care about your food.
I got the mushroom shio vegan ramen and my partner got the truffle chicken shoyu ramen. Despite the description saying the mushroom shio had tofu, there didn’t appear to be any. Despite that, the dish was filling enough with its shiitake mushrooms, various types of seaweed, and surprisingly hearty broth. I was a little apprehensive at kale as a topping but it took up the broth well and was delicious. 10/10. If I had to give a criticism it would be that the broth didn’t come out piping hot; usually I enjoy the first few sips of searing hot liquid and I couldn’t get that here. My partner said he enjoyed his chicken shoyu ramen but would’ve liked it a bit saltier. With tip we ended up paying around $24/person, a little more than I’d like to pay for lunch, but these days restaurant prices tend to be high. I would recommend this place if you’re in the area!

Food, service, and ambiance are all 5-star! So glad I can come here whenever I have a ramen craving. Tonight my friend and I both got the Tokyo Curry Ramen. It was so flavorful and satisfying. I also had the Mango and Passion Pavlova for dessert; thanks to George, I was able to snatch the last one for the evening!
This place is a bit of a drive for me, but worth it! Hope to be back at least once a month, probably more often during this winter. 🙂

Very trendy Ramen spot! I really enjoyed the open kitchen concept and rotating ski boards on the ceiling. This is definitely a place that I would visit again for vegetarian or vegan ramen as well as sake. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.

This a quite nice ramen place in Baltimore..
We had Tokyo Curry Ramen and Chicken Shotu Truffle. They were both good. Especially chicken tight in Shotu ramen was delicious, softly cooked, but with a little flat bland flavor. I was expecting more flavorfull broth. I terms of broth Tokyo Curry was better.
The ambience and service was great, waitresses and waiters were friendly.

If you aren’t starting your Friday night at Toki Underground by ordering every single appetizer and a round of drinks like you just won the lottery, you’re doing it wrong. We got seated immediately, which was the universe’s way of saying, “Prepare your bodies.”
The chicken wings were so meaty and crunchy I’m pretty sure they could be used as structural support for a building. And the pickles? Out of this world. I don’t know where they’re from, but I’m ready to defect to whatever planet grew them.
The ramen absolutely slapped. We took the vegan dish and immediately “corrupted” it with pork belly, creating a beautiful, delicious contradiction that tasted like pure victory.
But let’s talk about the real MVP: The Bathroom. Nothing prepares you for the sheer luxury of high-end toilet paper paired with the echoing vibes of Gregorian chants. I walked in for a quick break and nearly came out baptized. That is a level of commitment to detail that makes me want to move in.
By the time the pavlova hit the table, we were all physically incapacitated. Everyone claimed they couldn’t eat another molecule, yet five seconds later, we were basically Hunger-Gaming each other for the final bite.
11/10. Go for the noodles, stay for the liturgical vibes in the restroom.

We were here for a yelp event, but I saw that they served ramen so we had to order some. It was quite delicious. The egg, which I know is a very important component to many ramen lover’s experience, was soft boiled and added that certain creamy richness that it is supposed to provide. The tempura battered shrimp (appetizer) were huge and fresh. I would certainly take my friends here.
Be forewarned, the restaurant is in a shady neighborhood. Don’t be afraid. It’s worth the adventure.

My husband and I attempted to dine here last night but unfortunately we were turned away. ( even though there were plenty of empty seats.) I guess they prefer a specific kind of guests. Which is fine. The location in DC is known for their five star menu and their atmosphere being very much so for everyone. Doesn’t matter the race or how you look they welcome all. I expected this to be no less than the one in my city. Fortunately for us, we found another location(Kajiken) which was by far a way a way better option. Their food was delicious and their service was even better. Hands down I would rather dine somewhere where we’re treated with kindness.

Dined with a group of 6, service was friendly and fairly attentive. Food was unfortunately pretty bland, everything needed salt and seasoning, even the kimchi. Drinks were fine and apps were better than the ramen. My friend is gluten free and they were very good about accommodating her and there were quite a few things on the menu she could eat. Got 5 apps, a few drinks, and 6 ramen and it came to $300 with tip.

Stopped by this restaurant for a bite to eat and had a wonderful experience! Our server was very personable and answered any questions we had about the items on the menu. The atmosphere were great, as well! The food did take a bit of time to prepare, but it was no issue since we were not on a time crunch. It’s a nice laid-back place to grab lunch with friends.

I came for the fried chicken boa bun and the elote. The bao bun hit the spot, however the elote is no longer on the menu! Bummer. The curry chicken ramen was pretty good. I wasn’t a fan of the noodle itself but overall the dish was good. I had the fried vegan dumplings, that was good! Atmosphere was lowkey and the staff were attentive. I would come here again! Especially for that fried chicken bao bun!
