This is my all time favorite place to eat. The food has tasted the exact same since I was a little girl. Best salad ever! Best sukiyaki ever! I used to have my birthday dinner here every year when I was a kid when we would come back in town for Christmas. Tokyo express is what I miss the most about AZ (other than my family… most days)

For 20 years I frequent all of Tokyo expresses locations but now they only have this one left but every time I get a chance to go there, I do. The staff are friendly, and the food is always consistent and yummy. I hope they stand business for at least the next 20 years.

Been coming here since 1985… It’s solid, it’s perfect, closest thing to what you’d find in a shopping area or bullet train station in Japan! Also, James deserves recognition and a raise for his excellent service!

Hard to beat a restaurant that is cheap, somewhat healthy, and delicious. And quick!

Took my wife and kids here because it was a Japanese festival in Phoenix. They ordered Bento box A and Bento Box B. They said the food was honestly amazing for a fast food (express) food joint. Not to mention, it as done very quickly despite it being busy. The meat portions were good and everything tasted fresh. It even came with a refreshing salad. What’s even better, is just like. Phoenix tradition, they have flan (Mexican dessert) which was also on an amazing level.

I have been eating here off and on for 30 years. The food & customer service is excellent. Sadly, like most restaurants, the portions have shrank tremendously. (which is understandable considering our economy). Sadly I’ll no longer eat here because the cost doesn’t justify the small portions.

I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years never have complained once in my life and today I bought 2 Ayako plains to go/ came home and the chicken is literally rubber unable to eat or chew it! It’s absolutely disgusting!! Not edible! I called and let them know! They want me to drive all the way back to bring them disgusting chicken in 4 days when I have time! I am unable to drive back since I’m on 4 day work schedule! They literally would not budge for their honest customer who has been 100 percent satisfied and now the one time I call they refuse to simply return my money for an inedible 2 identical meals!! They want me to spend more wasted money on gas and time and leave spoiled food in my fridge for 4 days and return on the 5th day!! INSANE !!!!!!

Tokyo Express is a terrific order-at-the counter Japanese food. It is a great value, like its sister restaurant, Cherry Blossum Noodle Cafe, which is next door. A bento box is $9.95 (which is about $1 more than a Quarter Pounder meal at McD’s). It is a good thing that I live a 30-minute drive from here or I would gain too much weight eating here and at Cherry Blossum! After eating here or at Cherry Blossum, save some room in your tummy to stop by Mochi next door to get the lightest and most delicious mochi donuts in the valley.

Absolutely love this place!! I’ve been eating at Tokyo since I was a little girl! Best Katsudon and Teriyaki bowl in town. Please don’t change the menu ever!! Totally worth the drive from Goodyear ❤️

My all time, last meal on earth, favorite restaurant! I grew up in Phoenix in the late ‘80’s/early ‘90’s and there were Tokyo Express restaurants all over the place. (I recall one on Indian School and one on Thomas)
I returned to Phoenix after moving away 30 plus years ago and had to find out if Tokyo Express was still around. After scouring the internet and making some phone calls, I found this location on Camelback.
The food is EXACTLY as delicious as I remembered, at very reasonable prices, prepared fresh and served by a very friendly staff. The entire restaurant brings back so many great childhood memories. I come here as often as possible. I highly recommend the chicken teriyaki bowl, California roll and side salad. Perfection!
THANK YOU!
