Just happen to find this amazing place on a Sunday headed home. Walked in and was greeted with the warmest welcome from everyone. Ordered our food and wow it was amazing to say the least. Absolutely will be making a point to stop in here. Thank you for the hospitality!!

I had never been to Sand Lake and decided to stop in to check things out. I found Bernita Maes Càfe on Google. Overall I liked the place, very friendly people and my food was decent, it’s what you’d expect from a small town diner.
The pros were plate size, coffee was tasty, and they have a really friendly staff.
The cons were waiting for hot sauce and a coffee refill, but more importantly the unisex bathroom was pretty dirty. Not just because another customer made it very messy, which they did, but the overall cleanliness was below standard. It needs a big time cleaning and updating on the inside of the bathroom.
I would recommend a visit. I will be back to try other dishes, hopefully the restroom will be in better shape.

Food was burnt sausage was still pink on anything that had sausage and when confronted about it not only will they not make it right they’ll argue with you that it was done properly which is concerning for a place that sells food to not onow what cooked is. If you expect mashed potatoes think again they don’t even know how to mash them full on chunks this is the second time trying them and again food is trash made by the owner apparently crazy you can own a resturant and not know how to cook didmt eat it threw it all.in the trash where it belonged 75 down the drain but a good lesson learned rather go to lakeside inn at lest they can make an edible meal. Also she said the glob comes with big chunks of sausage but funny thing is I ordered it with bacon and sausage gravy she was offended that the sausage grazy was trash but insisted this wasnt true cause she made it herself (the owner) yet the onpy thing that was supposed to have sausage was the gravy which is why I was asking for a refund for the glob and the biscuits and gravy. Clearly they’ve never heard of browning meat since this was the color of boiled pork. And keep in mind that sausage chunk is a 1/4th of the bigger chunk that they had put in there as if it was a entire sausage patty that still wasnt cooked through. If you like a dirty place with staff and an owner that dont care of they get people sick or enough to take a cooking class then simply shouldn’t be open.

Terrible food and terrible service. We were served raw sausage, burnt pancakes, and potatoes that were supposed to be mashed and clearly weren’t. When we called we talked to the owner who told us we were wrong because she cooked it herself and there was no possibility of the food being under or overcooked. When we requested a refund we were denied because she didn’t believe us. This is a health code violation and they have been reported to the health department. Do not eat here unless you want to risk food poisoning and be accused of lying.

great place!!! such a great small-town homey vibe. food is in great portions and delicious! i love how comfortable it is. staff are friendly, owners are good people, and the food is delicious! great place to bring the family for breakfast or brunch.

Small diner with Hometown feels. We were very happy with the homemade bread options and loved our breakfast. I got a sausage and gravy omelet and it HIT THE SPOT… my husband got one filled to the BRIM with an assortment of meats. We were both super happy and stuffed before heading into the woods to cut lots of lumber and felt fueled for at least 6 hours!
Sidenote, funny and cute banter throughout by customers and waitresses. Definitely felt like a family establishment and it had my husband and I giggling throughout our visit 🙂

My family met my mother half way between our house and our cabin and we were fortunate to stop at this gem of a restaurant.
The people dining seemed to ask know each other and we felt welcomed right away.
The menu is large, but not overwhelming. You definitely won’t have any problems filling up, as the portions are giant and they do not skimp on quality ingredients.

L VED THIS PLACE! The food, service and atmosphere was phenomenal! Prices – fantastic! If I had to find a critique it would be that there was TOO MUCH food! But then again I’m not a big eater. Was a wonderful visit and will be back again!
