Lots of room for groups. TVs, games, pool, and karaoke nights make this my favorite place when I’m in town.
The wait staff is hit or miss, but exceptions could be made due to the crowd sometimes.
>>This place was awesome! I ordered the full rack of ribs with crab legs and my fiance ordered 3 different kinds of wings. All the food was superb! We sat at the bar and the bartender was great to talk to and offered me a great suggestion on a good hefeweizen since I can’t find the brand I like anywhere. We went there during the day on Saturday and it was pretty mellow which is nice because I used to be a bouncer and I’m sick of being around a ton of drunk people.<<
We have not been to Heroes since Sept ’11. We came in today (6/1/12) to have our last night out before the baby is born and they have lost us as customers. Before I begin let me tell you they changed the menu and as of this writing they have not changed the menu on the website. They have removed quite a few items like the entree add-ons (crab, clams, shrimp) which I loved. They have also jacked up the price on just about everything! In the case of the ribs, $5 has been added to each portion size.
Here we go, first of all the quality of food has PLUMMETED!!!
I ordered the following-
*Boom Boom Shrimp: I’ve never had this before and it tasted great. However it wasn’t “Five extra large shrimp”, it was 5 small shrimp. They were good but not nearly worth the $7.
*Half rack of Jack’d Up Ribs with asparagus and mac & cheese: First off I was met with the horrifying sight of what looked to be Kraft “Deluxe” mac & cheese instead of the whatever they used the two previous visits. I was not mistaken either! Not only should something like this not be served at a restaurant, it shouldn’t be old or undercooked (I couldn’t tell which) like mine was. I took one bite and stared at it angrily while eating my ribs. Speaking of ribs. These were by far some of the worst quality ribs I’ve ever had. They were very tender which is something I expected after after having this same entree 3 times now. BUT they had an insane amount of fat and gristle in, on and around them. I could have given them a pass on this as it might have just been a poor cut of meat from the supplier but given the terrible quality of just about everything else I doubt that was the case. I’ve had better ribs at Golden Corral……..GOLDEN FRICKEN CORRAL!!!! The asparagus was good but the quantity suffered from last time.
My fiance ordered 20 wings which have not changed in price. 10 medium and 10 garlic herb. She had garlic herb and hot last time we were there and they were almost as good as Jefferson’s in terms of quality and flavor. That level of quality died along with the mac & cheese and ribs. The wings were terrible, dry and smaller than before. The color of the meat showed it’s reduced quality. If you want to try the garlic herb wings here save yourself the trouble and stick a spoon into a jar of minced garlic and shove it in your mouth. We both love garlic but the combination of overpowering garlic flavor and crappy meat just made the experience that much worse.
One of the reasons I liked this place so much aside from the food was their selection of hefeweizen on tap. I prefer liquor and the only type of beer I actually enjoy is hefeweizen. They removed the good ones and kept the worst one. Prices have also jumped on beer and liquor.
In short, Heroes went from an AWESOME restaurant with a great bar to a decent bar with crappy overpriced food. I’ve seen it a thousand times where a place boosts it’s prices and lets the bottom fall out on quality and they never last long if they stick with it. I could have dealt with the price jump if the quality was still there but not both. This place just sucks now as a restaurant.
