Compliments Only Sub Shop is EVERYTHING. From the moment you walk in, the energy is unmatched — friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to have you there. The subs are packed, fresh, and absolutely delicious, with flavors that make you want to come back the next day. Every ingredient tastes high quality and made with care, and the portions are more than generous.

But honestly? The best part is the experience. The staff lives up to the name — nonstop good vibes, kind words, and smiles that turn your whole day around. It’s rare to find a place that feeds both your stomach and your spirit. If you’re in DC and don’t stop here, you’re seriously missing out.

Highly recommend — 10/10, no notes.

I love the uniqueness of the place. All the basics are here but with a little twist. The tuna salad is perfect, pickles are tasty and crisp and the delicious bread was still hot when I got my sammy. There are some tables but seating is limited.

My friend and I stopped off for a quick lunch on a busy day. The Tuna Salad ($10) and Sicky Wicky Club ($15) sandwiches were huge and really good. Next time we’ll just get one and share it with a side.

Service on a Friday afternoon is quick and simple! I got the farmers market after dark – would consider adding the fresh mozzarella or chips next time. The sandwich was great, as was the bread, but oh my god so much shredduce. Packed to the brim and the peppers bring some really great flavor. It’s the one vegetarian option they have, I would be happy to come back but I’m not rushing.

Ordered them at random because my normal sandwich shop was closed and OMG, absolutely worth it. I had the Vesuvius two first which is in the photo. The meatballs melt in your mouth and the baked cheese is fresh and has tons of flavor. Get a buck for the pickle because the juice explodes. I can’t wait to eat the hot pants Italian sub and crunchy boy later.

I could resist trying the others so I opened hot pants next. It is a good Italian sandwich but not spicy at all. Don’t let the name scare you. All the flavors are there, the bread is great and I like it. I wish they could do it hot where the cook the meats and cheese on the bread by baking it like Vesuvius so the oils and grease blend together, then stack the veggies. Other than that it is great.

I have ordered from here a lot and LOVE the compliment’s only sandwiches! I went in for the first time the other day and the service was also amazing. The staff was so friendly and kind. An overall spectacular experience!

Guys, what happened?!! You used to be good. 2 pieces on itty bacon on a BLT? Partially rotten shredduce? Asked no pickles on CB and open the sandwich to see it filled with pickles? Never returning. No better than subway.

My husband was in DC and picked up two sandwiches from Compliments Only and let me tell you… THEY WERE AMAZING! Being Philly-bred and having high expectations, this place did not disappoint. He brought home The Frex and a Crunchy Boi, and both were absolutely delicious — and the prices were super reasonable, which was an even bigger win.

The Frex came stacked with ham, capicola, pepperoni, Genoa, prosciutto, fresh mozz, hot peppers, onions, arugula, oregano, olive oil, and lots of balsamic.

The Crunchy Boi had turkey, provolone, potato chips, garlic mayo, pickles, onions, shredduce, oil & vin — the perfect mix of flavor and crunch.

I would definitely go out of my way to grab another hoagie from here. Make sure you stop by and thank me later!

I have been following this place on social media for a while and waiting patiently for a time to be in DC during the day to try it.

It did not disappoint

The staff was awesome and the subs were even awesomer

I tried the crunchy boi – turkey, provolone, and potato chips. Just as amazing as imagined. My wife had the veggie option – farmers market after dark. She loved it

This place is it. Best subs in DC. Period

I’ve been wanting to try compliments only for a while now and I’m glad we finally did! We came during lunchtime Saturday and it was very busy. We ordered online and picked up within 20 minutes. I got the famous crunchy boi and it was so good. The garlic mayo, shredduce, Turkey and pickles all made it delicious. I think going forward I want to try adding their hot peppers in it as well. My friend got the farmers market after dark which was also so good! The green goddess sauce and peppers made it so flavorful. Overall a solid sandwich shop and I’m excited to try more.
