The menu is inventive with plenty to choose from. The food is flavorful, with a strong emphasis on texture that really stands out, especially in the appetizers where the crunch adds an extra layer of enjoyment.
The attached store is another highlight, offering unique finds that go beyond a typical shop and are fun to explore.
Highly recommend this place for a casual weekend dinner or for celebrating a special occasion that feels relaxed and comfortable rather than formal or stiff.
Mussel with wine was spectacular; it really got along with bread and we ended up ordering couple more side breads to finish the sauce. Fig sandwich was also great.
This is a lively place, and you can’t really go wrong with any menu choice here.
This has been one of my go-to spots for pasta dinner, and I really enjoyed my recent brunch experience here as well. Their handmade pasta has an amazing texture, and I’m especially fan of their fat spaghetti. The local clams spaghetti and the sausage ragu rigatoni are also great, and their minimal seasoning helps highlight their textures. While no longer offered, tomato braised calamari was also one of my favorites as the mix of tomato sauce and lemon was an excellent pairing with the calamari.
When I recently took my friend here for brunch, I was disappointed to hear that they don’t serve pasta, but I still liked all the menus that we tried. Huevos rancheros was a more filling meal overall, but I also liked the coconut milk mussels that came with fragrant Thai spices and an interesting kick from the chili.
Since they don’t take reservations, the wait times are usually around 30 minutes for dinner, but they’re certainly worth the wait. The wait times are definitely shorter for brunch, but I would highly recommend trying their dinner menus first.
N’duja toast was fine. More anchovy than n’duja
Avoid if: You have limited access to a car and hate fighting for a parking spot, and/or don’t want to walk from the T.
Something surprising: They do takeaway orders for the business crowd.
Reservation needed? Yes, definitely.
Overall Experience: 3/5. As much as we wanted to love this restaurant, it was kind of a pain to get to, difficult to find and pay for parking, the service was so-so, and then you pay eye-watering prices for dishes you can get for 2/3 the price elsewhere in the city at a similar standard of preparation ($46 for a couple of seared scallops? Really?). The historic location and the decor were great, the food was tasty, and it’s a great refuge on a cold and rainy day along the harbor…but we won’t be going back.
