Social Profile:

Polished eatery offering Japanese fine dining with a twist, plus tasting menus, sake & wine.

The ultimate real Japanese experience in Luxembourg. High level service using all Japanese codes and a very diverse bento menu, along with a great wine list, made her lunch memorable. Early booking is required is you want to experience it too!

I had very high expectations and I was not disappointed in the least. This Michelin star restaurant really delivered. I took their vegan menu and my friends did not so I had the opportunity to see and taste of all of the efforts and skills that went into each dish that was prepared. It was extremely tasty and surprising both, but also very well presented with attentive, helpful, and professional staff.

I would really recommend going for this gem!!

We had the bento menu, and every bite was absolutely delicious. The attention to detail was impressive and truly elevated the experience. On top of the amazing food, we were surprised with a delightful birthday cake and a takeaway box filled with delicious treats. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We are definitely considering coming back!

wanted to go there for a looong time. took one menu sushi and one découverte. food was really good most of the time, which is totally fine for a menu so long like this.

the service was a bit complicated, staff looked like « afraid » of us and speaking really low and fast the description of the food so most of the time we just checked the menu online to know 100% what we are.

we noticed as well lack of communication or attention between them:
– we ordered a saké, they served and after we finished it they arrived with the bottle to explain which one they served us (????)
– a table with one person missing (toilet) where the food arrived and they served AND explained the food without one person, normally in a star michelin they wait, or even tell you not to go to the toilet in certain moment.
– serving our table with a pièce of the vegan menu by mistake, and taking like 30 min to serve the correct one.

felt a bit the pressure inside the restaurant, but if I consider only the food, Id come back.

A Long-Awaited Visit That Ended in Deep Disappointment
I had been wanting to try Ryodo for years, patiently waiting for the right menu before making the trip. This month, the menu finally looked perfect, so I tried to book for Friday the 13th of February, only to end up on the waitlist with no follow-up ever received. I made a second reservation and finally came in with high expectations. What greeted us instead was a complete surprise: upon arrival, we were informed it was a special “Discover Japan” evening, and that the menu we had booked no longer existed. We were given no real choice: either accept the replacement menu or leave. When we pointed out that we hadn’t been notified, a staff member casually replied that “everyone had been informed.” We received no email, no call, nothing. I even had to provide a proof that we booked the expected menu. That alone set a poor tone for the evening. The food itself was a real letdown. Flavors were flat, the dishes lacked any sense of rarity or refinement, and it fell far short of what you’d expect from a Michelin-starred establishment. To make matters worse, we had clearly stated at the start of the meal that we don’t eat ginger, and the very first dish contained it. A basic failure in attentiveness. The non-alcoholic drink pairing at €55 was deeply underwhelming and frankly overpriced for what was served. On top of that, our water glasses had an unpleasant odor, which made it hard to enjoy even a simple glass of water. The restaurant was also overstaffed to a distracting degree, the constant movement and noise around the table made the experience feel overwhelming rather than refined. At the end of the evening, we shared our disappointment with a staff member, who relayed our feedback to the chef. Yet despite us being the last guests in the restaurant, the chef never came to speak with us. That final gesture, or lack thereof, summed up the entire experience. To top it all off, when our jackets were returned to us as we left, my scarf was wet. A final reminder that the lack of care and attention ran through every aspect of our visit.
This was meant to be a special, long-awaited dinner. It was nothing of the sort. Very disappointed.

That’s the thing with these Michelin-starred restaurants, you really expect a lot. Our party of four took the tasting menu. I mean, you don’t really have a lot of choice. You take the tasting menu or you don’t eat there. In total, there were around 10 tiny portions of dishes, served to us. Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of sashimi or anything that is raw. I knew that before we came to the restaurant so I was really not quite enthusiastic about our dinner. However, in fairness to the restaurant and the chef, those that I managed to eat such as the cod, spring roll, the Wagyu beef, and some desserts were of excellent quality. My companions of course raved about the food including one who took the vegan menu.

The wait staff is really friendly and quite attentive. If you have pets, you can bring them to the restaurant. We had a tiny dog with us and she was treated like a queen. She had her bowl of water and she was even given fine food. Even the waiter volunteered to walk the pooch. Price wise, we all know how much these things cost, and they are horribly expensive. But then again I wouldn’t want to eat like this every day (nor can I afford to cough up 180 euros for a dinner, if you can call it that) and also spend a long time going through the tasting menu – we were there for four hours – the last ones to leave. I guess it was the combination of good company and good food that made the night a success, somehow.

To be honest we got there by accident and were very lucky to get a place. The place is beautiful but the atmosphere is very stiff. I felt a bit observed by the service and couldn’t talk freely. From the food I have expected more, is it Michelin stared place but it is not that surprising. Although, I have to admit that the quality of fish is on the high level! We got the vegetarian and fishy set to try. The food was served very slow, it took few hours to finish our dinner, and I think they forgot to serve us last dessert which was served after we already finished drinking the coffee.

I absolutely love this place and I can only recommend the menu dégustation.
The food was amazing, a mix of flavors and textures✨
The service was absolutely great, taling the rime to explain every single dish and answer all our questions.
Everything was so delicious and moreover original and fresh recipes.
They have a huge variety of sakes as well, and I liked every single one of the glasses that we tried.
You can see they take care or every detail on the restaurant and in their service.
Of course is a Michelin Star restaurant and this comes with a price, however I strongly recommend it for special ocassions, like birthdays, anniversaries etc

We went to Ryodo last week with a friend who has been there before.
Beautiful decor, we had a warm welcome. However unfortunately, it did not hit the spot, we were not very impressed as we should be in a Michelin star. Additionally there was a bill mix up that they obviously fixed. We also believe that something has triggered my friend’s stomach the following day. Bottom line, I would not return as I do not feel that the food was worth the cost. I had better dining experiences without this price tag.
