The food was fantastic. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. She even deboned a very nice fresh fish for us. The food is prepared fresh to order, so it takes a little while, but it is definitely worth the wait! And don’t forget the crème brûlée!

Starting on the positive: the food was amazing! Seriously the pest Pad See Ew I’ve ever had.
It seems that there was only one cook and one waiter so we waited almost an hour for our food to come out. It seems they need help with staffing. The server we did have was very kind. This place has a lot of potential.

I did order to go but the food over all was pretty great I ordered:
Chicken fried rice : 7.5 /10
Spring roll : 10/10
Chicken on a stick : 8/10
Chicken wings 4pc: 9/10 although they were not spicy or sweet
Sunrise Sushi Roll Fried :10/10 (beautiful thin crispy layer )
Japanese Beer: 10/10
Over all spent about 100 buckaroos
Will be returning to try other items and reorder some of the same items

We recently moved to the area, and as people who’ve adored sushi for decades, we were excited to try Chao Phraya. We arrived right as they opened for dinner, so we were the first people there. It wasn’t busy, only two other tables were seated during our long stay. Yet, it somehow took over ONE AND A HALF HOURS to be served our simple order of four sushi rolls. I made a point to check the time when our food finally arrived, so this is not an exaggeration. We also ordered an appetizer, the fried calamari and veggies, which was insanely greasy and made our stomachs feel yucky. (and we’re very used to fried food) It then took an extremely long time to receive our sushi, which was definitely not worth the wait. Our server was nice, but we weren’t checked on after we finished our appetizer, and we didn’t even receive a courtesy “sorry for the long wait” or any kind of explanation. Their high-end prices lead you to expect good food and delicious sushi, but we didn’t find this to be the case so we won’t be returning.

My family and I visited Chao Phraya last weekend and sadly, it will be our last. The food came out not fully cooked (vegetables were not cooked) and the portions were TINY! We ordered a red curry dish and it came out in a small bowl with possibly 3 pieces of chicken. My husband, son and I were all hungry 30 minutes after we ate due to the extremely small portions. Additionally, there was only one server in the entire restaurant! People walked out after waiting to have their order taken. This is not the way to run a business. Chao Phraya used to be a good Thai restaurant but the food quality, portions and service have really deteriorated. The owner needs to focus on better overall quality experience for his/her guests!

Expect really good food but for it to take a really long time. Our sushi was excellent but it took 45 minutes to be served. Get a few of the dumplings they are all great.

Before I would have recommended this place but sadly I can not now. We go here for the sushi. We made reservations for 2 at 2 and then called the next day to add a third person. We drove an hour only to get there and be told that there was no sushi. The sushi cook had quit and the owner was only doing sushi for dinner 2 days a week!! The owner didn’t even bother to tell us that when making reservations both times we called. Very upsetting because they always had the best sushi. I will say the waitress did give us a $30 gift certificate but I won’t be back until they have a sushi cook. Good luck finding a replacement for that guy. Especially in Kilmarnock.

I love your food! and I live 40 minutes away. It’s 2:00 pm on the Friday after Thanksgiving and I’m craving lots of things from your menu! I know you close from 3 to 5 pm, so I thought it would be wise of me, and helpful to you, to go ahead and call in my order now… to be ready for pickup at 5:15 pm. Whoever answers your phone says “we don’t take pre-orders” (really??) and that “we are really busy right now” (which is great! that’s exactly how you want to be!) but alas, my desire shall have to wait until another day.

We had reservations for 5:30. Before we even sat down we placed an order for sushi because it takes so long. After the hour we asked our waiter to put our dinner order in because we were starving. The owner/sushi chef wasn’t organized so we ended up canceling the sushi and ate appetizers for dinner. This is the second time this has happened. Unfortunately we have learned not to eat here. The staff should prepare patrons for the lengthy wait. Also they added a 20% tip for five people and didn’t even mention it was on the bill. Frustrating for all of us who were looking forward to eating sushi.

May be odd to say but I’m so THANKFUL Chao Phraya staff are in Kilmarnock – nowhere else in about a 40 mile radius serves Tofu Rama (Carrots, Broccoli, Peanut Sauce over White Rice). My health needs that right now and there are many barriers to getting WHOLE foods with REAL NUTRITION for me right now. The staff are so kind and the chefs are so talented! Tofu Rama is my go to dish in Kilmarnock. So healthy and so good!
Kitchen gets backed up so order earlier than you are hungry.
My daughter loves the Mussuman Curry!
