My experience this time wasn’t what I have previously experienced. I ordered the Valentines Day Special. Unfortunately, part of my order was missing, so I did have to go back in to get the rest. The ribs were amazing! Flavor on point! The jalapeno link was delicious with just enough kick! The sides definitely were a miss. The new mac n cheese was very dry(didn’t look like the pics). The beans again didn’t look like the pics, and tasted like pork n beans with a kick, but were dry. The potato salad was very Mrs. Gerry’s like( it may have been). Overall, not bad for $50 bucks. I think next time I’ll stick to the corn as my side. I definitely recommend the ribs and jalapeno cheddar links.

Tried this place out today, was very impressed. Got there when they opened- 11:30am. Got the 3 meat platter, also added 3 ribs. Chose the Brisket, Sausage & pulled pork. The sausage w/ jalapeno cheese was a star, good snap, smoke & flavor on point. Brisket had good bark ;texture reminded me of a roast. Nice Flavor. The pulled pork was just ok, a bit dry but still edible. Potato Salad was good, nice texture, the beans were smoky and good. The Ribs are seasoned with Cracked pepper and Salt only, this let’s the smoke and meat shine. Total w/ drink was 48.00 with 2 meals of food easily. Give them a try.

I really wanted to love this place. I didn’t just want to love it, I wanted to start telling people “oh you have to go there” in an annoying voice. I’m not quite there yet, but we’re closer than this review may sound.
Let’s start with the good, because there’s plenty of it. The staff is genuinely friendly, just a little undertrained. Think “golden retriever energy” rather than “seasoned pit crew.” Nice people, just occasionally missing the details.
I went twice, because I’m generous like that. Both times I ordered brisket and ribs. The brisket itself is very good, very Texas-adjacent, with a heavy pepper-forward bark that lets you know it’s not here to be sweet or subtle. I specifically asked for the point, the fatty, glorious, life-affirming cut. Both times I received the lean. Somewhere, a brisket cried. This feels less like malice and more like a training opportunity, but still… pain.
The ribs? Flavor-wise, outstanding. Classic sweet rib profile, hits all the right notes, absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, they were also so overcooked they had fully entered “BBQ Jenga” territory. Pick one up, and the rest consider following it. Some folks love fall-off-the-bone ribs. BBQ purists call that “pot roast on a stick.” I’m somewhere in the middle.
Sides were a mixed bag. The BBQ beans were exceptional. Like “why am I not ordering a second cup of beans” exceptional. The corn, however, was… present. It existed. It did not offend, but it also did not contribute to the conversation.
Then there’s the smash burger. I appreciate commitment, but this one was smashed like it owed someone money. The entire patty was crust. Less pressure on the flattop and this thing would be an absolute banger.
Final critique: the temperature inside. Both visits felt like dining inside a refrigerated meat locker, which I guess is on theme but not exactly inviting. Great for food safety, less great for human happiness.
All that said, I’d absolutely go back. The bones are good here, and a few small tweaks would move this place from “solid” to “dangerous.” As it stands, I’m giving J’s Smokehouse a 7 out of 10, with strong upside potential and elite beans.

AWESOME RIBS, STREET CORN AND BEANS! I’ve been searching for ribs like these since 2018. Smokey D’s is 150 Miles away. Hopefully next week I can get the gumbo.

Get off your behinds and get down to J’s smokehouse. It is hands down the best brisket in Omaha and the best quality for what you pay. The ribs are juicy and tender, and honestly, you don’t need any sauce for them.
Yes, I like porky butts, yes I like smoking barrel. But at the end of the day, if I want brisket, I’m heading here. Support these local BBQ joints.

WOW! There’s a reason J’s Smokehouse is rated ‘top shelf’ in the Omaha area, and if you want authentic Texas style barbeque, this is your place. I had a three meat plate (ribs, brisket, and pulled pork) with two sides (baked beans and street corn) and everything was delicious. All three meats were smoky, moist, and seasoned to perfection, to the point that I didn’t use any sauce. The sides were bursting with flavor and added the perfect balance to smoky meats. This place is uniquely wonderful and offers a great choice of smokehouse treats. The staff is friendly, courteous, and welcoming. If you haven’t been here, stop by and treat yourself to one of Omaha’s best.

We ordered the brisket which was a 3.5/5 (taste and texture of pot roast) and pulled pork which was 4/5. The sides were all phenomenal 5/5: beans, potato salad, mac and cheese (loved the garlic breadcrumbs on top) and fries. Really enjoyed the corn bread. We will try the ribs next time. Also, I am not sure if you have to ask for BBQ sauce but there wasn’t any with our to go order. Great service and friendly staff.

Would’ve given zero stars if I could. Came here with some friends for lunch and was told they had no brisket left. I’m still trying to understand how a place called “J’s Smokehouse BBQ” runs out of brisket during the lunch rush. At this point, I can’t even comment on the food quality but logistically, it’s clear things aren’t being managed well. This feels less like a team issue and more like a management problem, with little understanding of what customers in the area expect. On top of that, sales from roughly six people were lost in one shot, just from me, my friend, and the two people behind us who were also planning to order brisket at about $18 each. Adding photos to show I was actually here and not a bot.

Now this place is THE BEST EVER
and the BB-Q is THE BEST I have ever had…and I’ve eaten at a lot of
BB-Q restaurants in my lifetime!!!
We were greeted with such friendliness – and a smile!
My two sides were baked beans that were out of this world and I had Mac n Cheese which was very delicious as well.
I got the 2 meat platter so I could take some home. I got ribs and brisket…the rib crust was out of this world and the brisket was so tender and juicy – just like the ribs!!!
Prices, portions, value for your money, the atmosphere and the staff made this dining experience one I want to do again here, except next time, I’m bringing the whole family!!!

This restaurant came highly recommended. It was quite a disappointment. We have lived in Oklahoma and have traveled through various areas trying different barbecue. The food, including the sides were just downright terrible. The meats, including the brisket were not moist and all dried out. That makes for an overall bad experience. We had good service when ordering so there are no issues there. The barbecue sauce was disgusting. I don’t know how this restaurant is highly raved about.
