The food is phenomenal. The portions are big, and the taste is spot on, the best Chinese in St. John’s in my opinion. Our waitress was very friendly, however the other waitress in the restaurant is what made us not want to eat there anymore. She was very loud and unprofessional. Will definitely be doing take out only from now on because of her.

This place is a hidden gem in St. John’s. The server was polite and very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was fresh, delicious and piping hot!! They also served very generous portions. The best chop suey I have ever had. Will definitely go back.

Good food but the wait times are outrageous. We have called to place an ordwr multiple times and it’s been over an hour wait, so yesterday we planned ahead and called to place our order and were told 1hr to 1h15m. We went to pick up our order after an hour and ended up waiting for a full 30 mins crammed in a little lobby waiting area with a bunch of other people waiting for orders. If you tell someone their order is going to be 1h15m then ot should be ready in that time, or tell people longer. I doubt we’ll be returning here as there are plenty of options with more readonable wait times and food that is just as good.

Plenty of Food, Little Flavour”
Canton Restaurant serves up massive portions, but quantity doesn’t always mean quality. For $60 (Dinner for two), we were stuffed, but the food left much to be desired. The Mongolian Beef and chicken dishes were overloaded with onions—where was the meat? The Sweet & Sour Pork was the only redeeming dish, but even that didn’t blow me away. The fried rice? Huge portion, but loaded with frozen veggies—hardly fresh.
It felt like everything came straight from a mass-produced packet, lacking any signature flavour or originality. If you’re after a quick, filling meal and don’t mind that processed taste, sure, it’s fine. But if you’re someone who appreciates bold, fresh flavours, this place won’t impress.
Service was excellent—our server was friendly, polite, and efficient. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was lacking. The restaurant could use a serious clean-up, and the torn seat covers and dim lighting didn’t do much for the vibe.
Two stars for the food, five stars for service, and one star for the atmosphere. Go if you’re hungry and don’t mind the lack of authenticity. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

This place is somewhat underrated. Out of all the Chinese restaurants around this secluded island, i guarantee that THIS has got to be the best. The quality of the food and the service is exceptionally excellent. I haven’t eaten in house here in a minute but its even a little better. If you want Chinese that you can almost be certain the food is safe , fresh and is what it is. Some spots around i really question the meat they use.

If you finish what you ordered you are a fatty. It’s too much food.
Jokes aside this is my favourite Chinese restaurant in the city now and trust me I have been to more than half the Chinese places around.

We’ve been going to this restaurant for years multiple times a week. Ordered for my mother who’s in hospital this evening we show up to pick up her meal they’re 45 minutes behind didn’t even call to tell us it’s one small plate we explained the situation and the owners wouldn’t do anything. Shame on you, how can you run a business like this and treat an 86-year-old patient that way. Shame on you, shame on you!!!!!!!

The worst Chinese food in town. I ordered the Mongolian beef, and it was 90% onions. I’ve had Mongolian beef many times before, but this was a major letdown. Other dishes, like the chicken chow mein, were also undercooked. Definitely won’t be going back. See the picture of the item the call it Mongolian beef… it should be Mongolian onion..
