The ambiance was very nice, our waitress was amazing and the drinks were really good. I went with a group for resturant week. We all ordered different items off of the special menu and shared bites of each. I ordered the carrot flan as my appetizer which was really good, but came out luke warm, I tasted the beet salad which was good, and the those that ordered the white bean soup said their’s was good. I did not taste that though. For the entree, I ordered the beef medallions. The medallions were a nice size, however, they were lacking tremendously in flavor that even the wine sauce couldn’t help. The two small potatoes and spinach also lacked flavor. I tasted the chicken which to me was by far the worst. It smelled and tasted like stouffers. It was not good at all, which was sad because they gave nice size portions if that as well. The cod and lobster to me was the best, however, none of what I ate from the main entrées tasted like fine dining. Every single item came out warm not hot, which was also very disappointing. The desserts were all good, the apple crisp, chocolate mousse and pistachio ice cream, all od which I tasted. The drinks were really good too.I ordered the spiced apple martini and the pear drink(can’t remember the exact name) but they were both flavorful and strong. I spent over $100 just on myself and will not be back as the food was definitelynot worth the price I paid. Maybe had I ordered from the regular menu my review might have been different. However, if you are highlighting a special menu for restuatnt week, I would expect the food you chose to highlight would at least be good and it wasn’t even that. I’m just glad the company I keep always makes for a great evening out even if the food is subpar.

We are regulars at Avenue. The staff is truly the best and knows us and what we order well. The servers and funny and detail oriented and their table assistants are observant and always provide us what we need with no wait. We love the food. It takes like home with a French twist. Great bartender with a wide breadth of knowledge with generous pours that keep us coming back. Owner always does table visits and thanks us for visiting. It’s a great sleeper of a restaurant. We go at least weekly. Summer nights are always on the patio with our dog.

Very underwhelmed. I attended Avenue as part of a hosted event. The appetizers provided were a potato chip with a dollop of cream cheese dip and a piece of smoked tuna, and a piece of Melba toast with a dollop of avocado and a slice of pepper. I felt these were appetizers that you would serve in college, not at a restaurant in Clayton. My salad was fine. I got roasted chicken for dinner and it was cooked well but very basic, it was covered in aus jus and served with rice pilaf and broccoli. The rice and broccoli were exactly like the frozen broccoli and rice pilaf that you’d pick up at the grocery store and cook in the microwave. Additionally the TV in our room wasn’t working so we had to watch the presentation from our phones. I expected more from a restaurant in Clayton.

Had a great lunch here with my cousin — the perfect, cozy atmosphere to catch up and enjoy delicious food. The Niçoise Salad was so crisp and fresh, and the tuna was seared with so much flavor, but not overdone so you could still taste the tuna. The fries on the side were a great compliment as well.

Friendly service and delicious food.
You pleasantly surprised us when you accommodated party of 9 (with 5 kids) Saturday evening. Everyone was extremely helpful and nice. Kids had many choices from their menu. Adults had full cocktail bar and wine list.
Not often I can have roasted duck – here it was done to perfection. My wife is now big fan of Carolina Cobia – that fish was done impeccably.
And don’t forget to try dessert – from sugar cookies to chocolate cake – you will love it!

The service and atmosphere were fine but the prices are outrageous. We each (two of us) had 6 once pours of mediocre wine and a bowl of soup. I had a 3 once serving of cod (pitiful portion) and my wife had a small serving of gnocchi. The price: $103, before tip. Give me a break. This is ridiculous even for a Clayton restaurant.
