While visiting family in the area they brought us here for lunch. My oh my people. What a gem . As you enter the lower section of this big beautiful barn you realize your home on the farm. The decor is lovely. Amazing Iowa products for sale all over. As you enter your right at the coffee ☕️ bar. Lots to choose from for sure. Next to it is their desert cabinets full of sinful love for your sweet tooth. The food order station is unique with a friendly staff there to help you select your choices. Once it’s ordered go find your assigned table as they will bring it to you.
All the tables are different stiles and sizes. Reminds me of the tables we used back in the days. The food was delicious and home made. The strawberry cheese cake was off the charts!
What a nice touch to have the owner Kim come by and ask how check in us. She has great a great warm family place.
If you’re reading this it’s a must stop for sure!
You will not be disappointed!
Thank you Kim and staff for a great lunch and visit!

Such a cozy place! The restaurant portion of the barn offers classic comfort food, Iowa-made goodies, and friendly smiles from employees who show so much care to the point that you’ll probably forget you aren’t one big family. Upstairs is a genuine hayloft filled with antiques. Seeing this part of the barn genuinely made my jaw drop, it was incredible. Overall, my boyfriend and I couldn’t stop smiling and saying “this is so cute!” while we spent our anniversary at Barn Happy. We’ll definitely be back!

A friend & I had lunch recently at Barn Happy. I had been there a few years ago & she never had the opportunity to go. It was delightful and the homemade food was delicious. We each had a cup of asparagus potato soup, half a crab sandwich, and apple bacon coleslaw. For dessert we shared a slice of 4-layer coconut cake & their 1st day offering of Cinnamon Bun Cheesecake. Everything was delicious! The dining area offers a wide variety of miscellaneous things for purchase & upstairs features numerous consignment booths. (We both left with ‘treasures”.) On top of the great food, all of the employees were wonderful. This is a fabulous place for a ladies lunch. (They do take reservations and at times are very busy.)

I absolutely love Barn Happy! It is one of my favorite places to meet up with friends and family, whether for just coffee or for a tasty breakfast or lunch. It is a relaxed atmosphere, and seating is surrounded by an array of products and handmade goods from Iowa artisans and vendors, so you can gift shop while you are there. If you prefer antiques and vintage items, check out the barn loft. Currently, they are offering beautiful, fresh picked flower bouquets in vases on

I recently ordered coffee directly from Barn Happy’s website and couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. From browsing their selection to the moment my bag arrived at my door, everything felt thoughtful and well-executed.
I chose both the Blueberry Crumble Whole Bean Coffee and Pecan Sticky Bun Whole Bean Coffee, and both lived up to the hype. The medium roast is smooth, balanced it’s quickly become my go-to morning and afternoon brew.
What really sets Barn Happy apart for me is how consistently well-reviewed and responsibly sourced their beans are — you can tell they put care into quality and sustainability, and many customers highlight the full flavor and smooth finish across their range.
The ordering process was easy, the packaging arrived fresh, and each cup has been delicious — full-bodied, aromatic, and just the right blend of complexity and approachability. I’d definitely recommend Barn Happy coffee for anyone looking to enjoy great-tasting coffee with a feel-good vibe.

This place is superb. The service was old world spectacular. I have the ham broccoli and cheese quiche. The quiche was light and flavorful, with perfect texture. The pecan pie is to die for. I would definitely go back.

This was a super great find as we passed through the area. We were searching for nearby restaurants and this place popped up so we gave it a try. The food was delicious and so were the desserts! There is a limited menu but it’s all homemade. Did I mention the desserts?! So yummy! There’s a store with all sorts of goodies to purchase. Along with our meal, we also purchased some local wine, some kitchen knives, and a few other cute items we found. The upstairs of the Barn had an antique/second hand area that was also fun to peruse through. I don’t know if the owner is there everyday but she was very friendly and was walking around talking to every guest at every table. She was no kind! She even shared her cookbook with us because we were asking about the delicious coleslaw that came with our sandwiches. Highly recommend this, seemingly, in the middle of nowhere stop that made our trip through Iowa worthwhile. The interior decor is unique and quaint including every table being a little different. They even sell fresh flower bouquets (perhaps in season?) Not sure entirely if that’s a daily thing, but they were also beautiful table centerpieces.

We had a great brunch here. Bacon Swiss quiche was very good but there are chunks of onion if you’re not a fan of onion. The gluten free brownie and smoothies are very good as well. Highly recommend the blueberry cream cheese coffee cake and the Mexican spice mocha. Soooo good!!! Lots of decorative stuff in the upstairs of the barn at good prices also.

Welcoming eclectic atmosphere. Variety of homemade goodies as well as mass produced retail items. Main room contains the cafe with surrounding retail. Upstairs contains more retail. Bought an Almond Bar, Iowa State Map and Des Moines restaurant book.
