Found this place by accident while walking through Deland. The staff was so nice to us. Everyone was so helpful. Not one person turned us away. We asked lots of questions even about the area and they were so more than helpful. The Caprese, cowboy candy dip and the hummus were so amazing. The only thing that I think could’ve done better would’ve been having like a real beer cheese pretzel versus like a frozen pretzel but that was my only negative. The Stranger bings mead one of the best meads I’ve ever had. Don’t believe all of the fake reviews that come from social media as those people have probably never been to this area. The restaurant is very clean. The bathrooms are clean. The bar is clean. The staff is amazing and we would definitely come back. We are also apart of the rainbow community and had not one problem here. We were loved and treated well like everyone else.

Abbey Bar is one of the best spots for craft beer in Central Florida. It’s earned national recognition, named one of the “Top 100 Beer Bars in America” by Imbibe Magazine and even listed on “100 Bars to Visit Before You Die.” The reputation is well deserved.
We went on a Sunday, when they’re usually closed, but they had opened for Delandtoberfest and the DeLand Craft Show. It was the perfect way to wrap up the afternoon. The vibe was laid-back and welcoming, with staff and patrons alike being friendly and easy to talk to. Behind the bar was Sammy who is always smiling, personable, and attentive.
The Abbey is known for its adventurous lineup, and the selection of meads and sour beers stood out, offering options you won’t find just anywhere. We have ordered meads and sours on other occasions. This time, my wife and I both ordered Central 28’s Hullabaloo Festbier, a Bavarian-style Marzen in honor of Oktoberfest. It was excellent, smooth and malty with caramel notes, balanced by spicy German hops, finishing crisp and clean. We enjoyed a couple of rounds while playing cribbage.
We didn’t try the food this time (they offer a small menu of appetizers, quesadillas, and paninis), but when it comes to drinks, Abbey has never let us down. With knowledgeable staff, a great selection of beer, wine, and mead, and a cozy community vibe, it’s easy to see why Abbey is considered one of the premier craft bars in Florida. We’ve never had a bad experience here and always look forward to coming back.

The appetizers were tasty. We had the pretzel and beer cheese and the hot pretzel and cheese was pretty good. The candied jalapenos & cream cheese on a cracker was ordered on curiousity and was fantastic.

While passing through we popped in because we love soft pretzels and my husband loves a good craft beer. Neither were had here. I have to think they make the pretzel so dry to encourage more alcohol consumption. When we brought it to the staffs attention the management was absolutely horrid. Also, we had no idea we were walking into an environment that seems so sketchy and unsafe, they definitely host a “different” crowd. Save your time and and money and hit up OB’s. We had much better luck there.

I’m from the Northeast where craft beer is awesome so I wasn’t impressed with the draft selection at all. The place is filled with hipsters that dress like lumberjacks but have soft keyboard hands. The food was ok but nothing to rave about. Next time I’m in the area I will try something else

Went for their Tuesday Night trivia and it was well worth the drive out for a good time. Our host for the evening had great trivia and was fun and engaging.
The wine was perfect and pared really well with our appetizer plates.

Stopped in on our way to meet up with and visit our friends from Jacksonville after we got off auto train. We are huge fans of craft ciders.
Of course you have to have a nice bite while enjoying various taste nuances of various beverages. Ordered the Mediterranean cheese plate. Maybe a bit of an off flavor?
But both of us were suffering from vomiting and diarrhea within a few hours afterwards. Lasted into the next morning.
Could it have been spoiled or contaminated food?
