I specifically loved the decor and the loft area feels so inviting.
The bathroom were clean and smelled good.
I need to come back for more and for more I will
Thank you ladies!!
The bathrooms were indeed clean.
I hope I can come back for the breakfast. Thank you!
wonderfully seasoned crust. Steamed mixed vegetables, gravy, homemade mashed potatoes, and toast were all very tasty! Very clean and well decorated; and service was perfect. It’s a great example of the old time family restaurant that’s becoming more & more scarce.
You can be assured of a cordial country hospitality experience, fresh delicious food, served in a relaxing slower paced, calming environment. And what I especially enjoy is meeting these owners/entrepreneurs that make these places happen. They have determination, initiative and involvement in the community. They commit many hours and financial resources to set up their business in these revitalized, charming historical buildings. It takes a special person. Such a person is the young lady that owns the Longhorn Cafe & Mercantile. She is the unofficial Mayor of Jennings, a one-woman Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Bureau combined. I asked about the building as she was headed out the door to run errands this morning. That was all the invitation she needed to pull up a chair and chat with my wife and I. We got the history and her journey to starting her first restaurant. If you see Ronnie say hi! Check out the Longhorn Cafe & Mercantile FB page. Scroll way, way down and you will see pictures of the old building being revitalized. There will also be info on weekly food specials and hours posted there.
If you haven’t figured it out by now, strong hint…I loved this place.
And then there is the food….
For me, my favorite. Two eggs medium, crisp bacon, crisp hash browns an a big fluffy “Cat Head Biscuit” covered in fresh peppered cream gravy. My wife made a great selection; the Farmer Breakfast. A pile of cowboy potatoes, with sauteed onions, bell peppers, bacon and mushrooms, covered with two medium fried eggs, a few sliced jalapenos to add spice and toast. Both of these excellent meals accompanied by a hot cup of coffee.
What a delicious couple of breakfasts at the end of a pleasant morning drive.
If you are looking for a place that has great gifts for the lady in your life, the Longhorn is also the place.
Roni has done a great job restoring this historic building that was withering away. Now, Jennings once once again a great place to eat, grab a coffee, get gifts, and gather for community events.
