Got the pork cutlet curry. Added the aburi cheese. It was delicious! Paired well with the dark beer and a side of their Japanese pickles.

Service was friendly and very fast. I was pleasantly surprised how quick are orders were served.

Will be back soon!

Definitely a step above your standard Glico grocery store curry, wow!

The katsu was like Saku-level quality, kaki-fry was amazing.

Staff were super kid friendly.

おいしい!!!!

Food: 4/5
Portion: 3.5/5
Service: 4/5

Located in Steveston means the prices are not going to be cheap but I wanted to try it anyways. The curry is good but not as good as some places closer to downtown. The katsu is very crispy and yummy tho! Both the chicken and the pork were delicious. The house made fukujinzuke is really good. I’m happy that it’s serve yourself here, so I ate quite a bit!!

The restaurant style is self seating then they bring you the menu. Standard and service is standard as well. The restaurant feels clean.

I don’t think that this food will be good take out or delivered. It definitely has to be eaten dine in or it will lose some of its flavor and crispiness. So don’t judge by the reviews with take out containers unless you’re also ordering to go/delivered.

Although I gave it 4/5 stars, it is not a place I would go out of my way to try again like I did the first time.

Oretachi Curry is easily one of the better spots in Richmond when you’re craving Japanese curry. The curry is rich, smooth, and packed with deep savoury flavour without being overly heavy. The katsu was crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the rice-to-sauce ratio was spot on. Portions are satisfying and everything tastes freshly made. If you’re into Japanese comfort food, this place absolutely delivers.

Very tasty soft comforting curries. The crisp factor in the cutlets is sublime. Very light, fresh and sharp ‘crisp’ sound followed by warm, rich meaty goodness. The only thing I would say is that this is the occasional indulgement as most cutlet places are.

But, I must mention that the atmosphere is beautiful. It is warm, unassuming and very inviting. Combined with the coziness of little Steveston in general, it feels magical.

(sorry no food pics it didnt last long enough..)

First time comment: It is close to the Japan quality. However, the curry on rice was just warm, if the curry is hot enough, it would be much better.

Updated on Aug 1 2025, came again after almost one year. Found the item price increased, that’s understanding. However, the pork chop size is much smaller. Disappointed. The 3rd photo was just uploaded.

Updated on Oct 24, my wife ordered a beef Patty and it was served a charcoal one… Very disappointed, how come it could be delivered to the customer.

A cozy spot serving up comforting, Osaka-style curry that hits all the right notes! I got the chicken cutlet with an onsen egg — the curry was rich and flavorful without being too heavy, and the cutlet was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The roasted red peppers added the perfect sweet and smoky touch.

The vibe is super chill and homey, and everything felt thoughtfully made. If you’re craving a warm, satisfying meal that’s full of flavour but not overwhelming, Oretachi Curry is definitely worth a visit!

This is a good place for Japanese curry. We ordered the pork cutlet with spinach as well as a pork cutlet with cheese. Both were as delicious and tasted authentic.

You can choose the level of spiciness and we went with the regular/Oretachi spice level. I think I would enjoy it at the hottest level as the curry I enjoyed in Japan was substantially hotter. While the regular spice level never really got there for me, it is a good balance for those concerned with it being too spicy but yet still bring out the flavour.

There are 3 sizes for rice and the small is a good size serving for most.

They had and we tried the Sakura coke and it was a refreshingly different treat.

Japanese Curry is always a good option but it generally tastes no different than making it at home using the Roux cubes from Glico, House, Hachi, Higashi or S&B. That being said I thought I’d give it a go anyways. The price ain’t the greatest considering how boring their curry and katsu is. Very food court quality. The curry at Takeya down the road is just as bland so I was hoping this might have a better taste. Wrong. Mediocre food reviews continues….help me, help you. I wish Sushi-Q was still around on Dunbar. That dude had killer curry.

I visited a restaurant that specializes in curry rice, and I was really impressed with the overall experience. One unique aspect of the place is that they use ramen noodles with their curry broth. While the noodles become a bit too soft from soaking in the broth, it doesn’t take away from the flavor. The broth itself is rich and flavorful, as it seems to have been enhanced with stock, making it incredibly satisfying. Paired with an onsen egg, the dish reaches a perfect balance of texture and taste.

I ordered the fried oyster curry rice, which quickly became my favorite. The moment I bit into the oysters, the fresh, briny flavor of the sea burst in my mouth—it was simply delightful. Another standout was the fried chicken curry rice. The chicken had a perfectly crispy exterior with tender, juicy meat inside. It was easily one of the best fried chicken cutlets I’ve had recently. The portions of both the curry and rice were generous. For first-timers, I recommend starting with the regular portion, and if you’re still hungry, you can always opt for a medium-sized portion, especially if you can eat a lot!!

The ordering process was super convenient. Each table has a QR code, so you can order directly without waiting for a server. While the restaurant was a bit crowded, it’s a typical atmosphere for a Japanese curry shop. The rice they use is imported from Japan, and the quality really stood out—it paired perfectly with the curry. We each spent around $25, and we ended the meal with a fried pumpkin pie, which was the perfect conclusion to a great dining experience.

Overall, I had a fantastic time and will definitely return. Oh, and by the way, the male staff members are really good-looking too and nice!!
