I think I’ve gone to Rio Grande at Teays Valley for the last time. Obviously, the order for 2 orders of Chicken Enchiladas with Salsa Verde, not Red Sauce, was taken correctly. When I opened the meals when at home in St. Albans, there was no sauce AT ALL! No red sauce, no green sauce, nada!!! I called the restaurant and was told I could come down and get salsa verde or get a credit for salsa verde to use the next time I was there then they hung up. I tried calling back but the line was busy and the voicemail box was full. I won’t be going back.

The only complaint we had was the cheese dip and chips. The cheese dip was like dipping milk. It was extremely running and the salsa was not much better. Chips were bland and had to add salt a couple times and did not seem fresh. No real issue with our entrees.

Service was low, communication was difficult. Some food was satisfactory others were not good. The peach margarita mux they used was atrocious! Tasted like undissolved mix, thick and bitter. My granddaughters salad was satisfactory as well as my husband’s steak pieces were covered in cheese. Never expected that. My carne asada tacos were not as good. The tiny pieces of over cooked meat shrunk & dry. I had to ask for a real check. This is a pic of what I received. The next one was adding machine tape with numbers nothing ever showed what items cost! Gave up & paid the bill & left.

Service was good, food was as good as all the other Mexican restaurants, and atmosphere was new booths and new payment system. That must be why I paid $3 more for my Margaritas and $5 more for “fajita style” burrito superior than any of our other 3 favorite Mexican restaurants. Prices higher here so you might as well drive 1-5 more miles down the road to the other place.

I’m honestly not sure how this place is open! Cold, no flavor, stale chips, queso that was cold and chunky, chicken that was stringy and hard. Literally one of the worst Mexican meals I’ve ever had. So yourself a favor and go anywhere else other than here. 0/10
