My new favorite restaurant in Columbia! I was absolutely blown away by the flavor and tenderness of the brisket, and the sweet, seasoned collard greens were incredible. I’m obsessed with the décor and the history. I don’t think there was enough space on the wall for one more photo. I could honestly spend the whole day just taking it all in. Everything was spotless and smelled amazing, and the staff was polite and very helpful. The wait wasn’t bad at all, everything moved smoothly and was well worth it. This restaurant exceeded every expectation. I’ll definitely be back soon… maybe even tomorrow!

First visit to this location. Staff were helpful, friendly, and courteous. The food had nice smoke flavor especially the brisket. It was extremely tender. Was a nice casual atmosphere. Recommended.

I absolutely LOVE this place! The decor is eye captivating and the hospitality is warming. I appreciate that the taste is consistent, and that speaks volumes about the unity amongst the chefs. It’s the best barbecue in Columbia.

We were her for a visit and got the The tubman all I can say is fabulous everything we ate all 3 of us loved. The mac and cheese and baked beans were better than mama’s. Brisket great flavor and tender. Pulled pork and chicken juicy and seasoned to perfection

This was definitely the best BBQ place we stopped at in SC. The people who work here are all super nice and easy to talk to! We had their Brisket Loaded Wedges to start. They give you so much brisket on top, which made me very happy! I got The John Henry, which was their pulled pork and two sides. The pork was juicy and tender. The collard greens and mac and cheese were delicious! I’m also a sucker for some good corn bread! I love the history that the restaurant has on it’s walls. I loved looking over all the posters they had and learning about new things. Definitely stop in for some good foo and a good time!

We were in town for a concert on Saturday night at the Township Auditorium nearby. Our friend said we should try this place. We love our BBQ places in Charleston and were excited. Sadly, they were closing in 20 mins so we had to get food to go. The staff were not bothered at all that we came in at the last minute. They recommended food and helped us order and get everything we needed to go. We stepped outside and ate right there! The food was AMAZING! The BBQ, the ribs, and the banana pudding to name my favorite things. We want to come back and try it again sometime!

This little barbecue place is unique, the staff was friendly and polite. They constantly checked on us to make sure everything was good. They even refilled our drinks. The decor of the restaurant was really cool in vintage of old South Carolina news. The food was really good, it was my first time having Carolina barbecue and the hash was amazing. We’ll be back for sure.

Brisket slices were huge. Veggie plate came with double sized portions of Mac-n-cheese like homemade with tons of stretchy cheese and smokey sweet baked beans. Freshly made with pickle and egg potato salad. Seriously hot fresh cut and coated fried okra with spicy salt was excellent and large portions. The only small portion was the sweet cornbread which was actually good and fresh, just needed some butter which I’m sure I could’ve asked for, but was delicious anyway. Coleslaw was fresh.

Portions large enough to take home for lunch tomorrow. Fresh lemonade or tea — i had unsweetened tea so good I actually didn’t need added sweetener. Brought some big tubs of Banana Puddin and Strawberry Shortcake.

Atmosphere reminded me of the old hole in the walls you search for. Lots of local politicians and celebrities photos and memorabilia. But cleaned up for a modern crowd. Bathrooms were spotless– have to wash your hands after the choice options for barbecue sauces. The stacked split hardwood out back speaks to the authentic pit barbecue.

First time at this restaurant. Service was slow and I was not very pleased, however, the food was so delicious that it made up for any inconvenience. Probably the best, most tender brisket I have ever eaten. The pulled pork was amazing. I will definitely give them another chance because it was most certainly worth the wait.

Sorry for the crappy pics but this is how I remember the places I’ve eaten at. I appreciated the fresh ingredients in the side salad. The kale and collards were fresh. The tomato based barbecue sauce came on the side along with a cup of mustard based sauce that I don’t care for. The sweet cornbread isn’t too sweet and is good, and I don’t usually care for cornbread. I can tell the owner cares about the quality of the food and I appreciate that! I wouldn’t return for the ribs, not as seasoned or smoky as I prefer but I wish this restaurant all the best!
