Before I start, I’d just like to say that I do not like having to be the person to give a new restaurant in town a 2 star review. In fact I was so so hoping to be adding my 5 star review to the rest of them, sadly that will not be the case today. Let’s begin.

Right away I noticed several issues, some in their realm of control and others particularly not. Right away as we walked in we realized we were the only customers, only one other person showed up to eat in the duration of our visit. There was only 1 waitress and she visited our table once to take our order’s, once to give us our orders and once to give us our check, she didnt come check on us during our meal to be sure we were satisifed or to inqire if we would like desert. But the most alarming thing I noticed right away was (As you can see from the pictures) the ceiling in the middle of the room. If you look carefully the ceiling dips down leading me to believe there is a leak there and this is right in the middle of the dining area with a table right underneith it. I wouldn’t want to be eating here during a storm….

Now as to the food which is really the part of the review most everyone is here for. When you name a restaurant Taste of Cajun, you better make sure you can deliver by living up to that claim. I absolutely love creole food everything.
I expected a serious Cajun kick and a mouthful of flavoring, especially with ordering their crayfish etouffe. That should have been loaded with flavor, leaving me wanting for more, but was in fact very bland. Yats has a similar dish but I would say theirs has more flavor than the dish I had here. My husband ordered the Gator Po Boy sandwich and a side of brussel sprouts which they charged us almost $4 more for. The sandwich had 4 little fried nuggets on it, each one being more breading than their was meat. Also we have both had gator before and this tasted more like chicken. As for the brussel sprouts we payed extra for, for $4 the quality was just not there. My son’s dish was the shrimp and fries. The shrimp was fine but I would have liked to have tasted more flavoring. His fries came bland with zero seasoning or salt. That being said my son is typically a picky eater and he ate and enjoyed his meal.
Unfortunately my husband and I did not feel the same way about our meals, especially for the price they were charged at. We were however surprised to feel full after eating the meal though, so these dishes were filling despite the lack of quality.

My best advice to this place is to lower your prices to match the quality of your food at this time. You are very much overcharging your customers for the food you are serving them. Also I’d get that ceiling looked at before it falls in on someone during their meal.

At this time I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to our family and friends and unfortunately due to the severe overcharging my family wont be returning for another visit.

I hope that this review can help you to make the necessary changes that will help your business succeed and even flourish in muncie. Wishing you the best of luck!

Being from Natchitoches Louisiana, I always miss the Creole and Cajun food. So when I stumbled upon Taste of Cajun on Facebook, I immediately had to come in with the family and give it a try. To our surprise it was a delicious and fun experience. We had the fried Boodan Balls, Dilly Burger and Cajun Pasta. All of it was tasty and we will be coming back for more!

It is hard to find a good Cajun place around. I was so glad to hear T’ophers formally of Portland and Winchester merged with GG’s family restaurant to create ToC. The same high quality Cajun food along with your midwestern breakfast and lunch offerings. If you like creole food, you can’t go wrong here. Just wish they were open later than 3.

Arrived at this restaurant for our first time, only to find they have recently become Taste of Cajun. Can’t say we were disappointed. Friendly staff and good food. We’d like to return for lunch to try the more Cajun type food.

I visited this place on a whim. Definition of hole-in-the wall, in that good way. No frills atmosphere but the food was delicious. I’m no expert on Cajun food but what I had was great. We had boudin balls as an appetizer and catfish and jambalaya for our meals. I don’t have much to compare it to in my experience but I can say that it was great and I will be back

Absolutely delicious! Attentive waitress. It’s not a big place, only 7 tables inside but the almost homey atmosphere is great. Food served hot, freshly prepared. The fried green tomatoes are to die for!!!!

The food was great! Very flavorful, hot, and came out promptly for how busy and short staffed they were! The waitress did a great job, was very friendly and kept drinks full and clear of dirty dishes despite being by herself and busy!

I Will always love this place. It was such a breath of clean air when they were in Portland and the disappointment when they left was unsurpassed. Opening back up in Muncie was brilliant and I wish them the best. I know I will be telling everyone I know from BSU to come here
