Ordered the Pork Belly, Tom Yum, Panang Curry, Pad Woon Sen, and Mongolian Beef. I definitely recommend the Mongolian Beef and Panang Curry. The chicken were in strips and it had a fish texture to it. The pork belly dish barely had any meat to it and you’ll be better off getting their salad appetisers as it looks better from the reviews.
Most of the food were pretty sweet and overpowered the original taste of the dish. If you’re looking for something spicy, ask for their dried chilis, it adds a good kick to it.
For dessert we got Mango Sticky Rice and their Homemade Coconut Ice Cream. The sticky rice was 3/5 as the mangoes were not ripe and were hard to bite. The ice cream was more of a sorbet and the sprinkles ruined the taste of it.
Overall, generous portions, cheaper than Tuk Tuk Thai, friendly staff, authentic food (6.5/10) but too sweet.
One lady came over to take my order, informed me the togo time was 30 or so, which i appreciated but it almost felt like an attempt to dissuade, and I started to ask questions about the food, asking if they had fish sauce as a side for egg roll, she said yes, for $1 (yikes), I then asked if they cut it down and season it, she says no, and I say ‘ oh yeah, that’s more of a Vietnamese thing’ , she said ‘ we are not Vietnamese, we are Thai’. Well yes, clearly, that as much is the name. However, I’ve also been to many thai restaurants that cut it down and season it, so it’s more balanced and not overwhelming. Its not just a Vietnamese thing.
At that point she was kind of flustered and called someone else over to complete the task, even though I said ‘okay then, I will take..’ – which i thought was not cool, feels out of pocket for any business, especially food service. Either engage with and complete the task, or at that point say ‘ I am sorry, let me get someone else over here to help , or answer your questions.’ To get flustered and just abandon ship feels pretty rude, tbh, and not a great way to keep customers.
Anyheww, I ordered the steamed postickers and a curry, both good although potstickers sauce a touch on the sweet side, as others mention common theme here.
I hope they can tighten up service here, because I had a completely different experience eating in one time, and that shouldn’t be the case.
Order came out before 30 and still tipped, always believe in service. The food is decent, meat portions decent, and as far as tucson Thai goes , prepared and tastes better than many, but that kind of experience probably turns me from a 2x/month to 1x/month. Service needs tweaking, who is taking orders , and if you, do it or don’t it. So still worth it at the end of the day , and I always like to give businesses the chance to be better and improve.
