What a fantastic chip shop cafe , clean , good food , AND the owner , when he came out to front of shop , asking how my meal was (I’d finished and was waiting for the wife to finish hers) , he said would I like some more chips . Well not wanting to rebuff his kind offer , I said , yes please. When he returned , it was another full meal , fish , chips and mushy peas . Top man , I’ll be back for sure

Very good chips nice and crispy not soggy atall and the batter on the sausage was beautiful could tell the chef put effort into it and was cooked fresh to order. Milkshake is definitely worth a try. All in all a lovely experience. People need to support these kind of places not many chippies stay consistently good for the 20 years I can remember.

Really nice Gluten Free Fish and Chips!!! The batter is really tasty and portion size was good. Had a choice of sides too. The owner had a good knowledge on gluten and even provided us with gluten free vinegar. Recommend this place.

Absolutely brilliant. The owner is such a lovely, helpful caring chap, and the fish & chips is excellent. A wonderful light, crisp batter with obviously fresh cod fillet. Perfection.
Mushy peas were also really good!
A definite recommendation: will certainly visit again the next time I’m hungry in Carlisle!

Just popped in off the cuff, what a fantastic little café. The food was great, my small fish and chips was actually plenty big enough for lunch, and rather surprisingly there was a good proportion of fish (many places bulk up on the cheaper chips, keeping fish size small, but not here ❤️). The batter was beautifully crisp as it was cooked fresh, so yes a slight wait but it was warm and comfortable and we had a cuppa so it’s not a problem.
Will definitely come again.

Went in just before closing 2/2/26, the gent behind the counter recommended Tilapia instead of cod. It was lovely, even gave us a small piece of Haddock to compare it to. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Will return again, very reasonably priced.

Super friendly owner. We ordered fish & chips and seafood platter. The fish was crunchy outside and fresh and yummy inside. Seafood platter was good, too. I especially like the fish in the platter, fresh. Mushy peas was nice, I like to eat it after having deep fried food to get rid of the greasy taste. Tartar sauce was really good, too.

Visited for lunch during a shopping day out in a Carlisle. Chips were decent with strong flavour, however fish wasn’t the warmest and when I sent it back to the kitchen for a replacement, they sent me the same cold bit of fish back, only it had been slightly microwaved. Cafe was cozy with an 80s atmosphere, but it was overly crowded and some areas of building needed more maintenance- the stairs to get upstairs to the toilets didn’t appear safe and definitely wouldn’t be suitable for disabled people. I complained before I payed due to the poor quality of the fish and the boss took over 15 minutes to appear before me and was highly rude, laughing at me before he screamed at his young employee- not good enough treatment of staff! Sadly despite the lovely chips I will not be visiting again

A post remembrance day parade warm up.
I chose the small portion fish & chips (cod) with mushy peas and a pot of Earl Grey tea.
The staff were welcoming, polite, and efficient. Every table was checked in with by the boss, who clearly cared about his patrons’ experience.
The food was perfectly cooked, very tasty, and the portion size was perfect for me. There’s the option of eating in as well as the traditional takeaway, located around the side of the building.
Varied menu with gluten-free option available.
There’s plenty of seating indoors with an outdoor option that just wasn’t for me today. There are well-kept toilet facilities upstairs.
It was definitely worth a visit, and it was such a treat on a cold Sunday afternoon.
