Bow Tie BBQ is owned by the side who wanted the restaurant to continue on. There was a massive push to keep the property because of its historical significance.

Ordered the cowboy burger, it was delicious and medium rare just like I specified. The waitress was very nice and respectful towards my mother by complimenting her. Beautiful dining area and just a great atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I wish I could put it all into one word but its not possible.
The food sucks. Well at least that is what me and my companion ate. I had a half slab of baby back ribs with crab stew. She had the chicken tenders. None of the above had any flavor. Beginning with the stew or should I say chowder. Honestly it tasted like dried beef on toast. Or clam chowder with bread imbued into it. The ribs were dryer than the Sierra desert. The pic I submit makes the ribs look moist but actually the glaze is just for show. I’m tired of typing so in just going to skip to the waitress. I’ll put it like this. It seems like I only saw her when she needed something. It took her about five minutes to get to us and the whole time we were there we had to get stuff from the other waitress. Our waitress was Heather so if you get her just keep moving to the next table. I’m done because I know you won’t read the next five. Chapters.

This is a historic restaurant that has been there over 90 years. I get the fries chicken every time I go. It is the only place I have ever been to that does their fried chicken without batter. The crispy skin and outside are worth the price of admission.

My first and only visit to this restaurant started on a bad note. The waiter spilled a soft drink on me and my guests, first thing. Everyone was apologetic. The service was slow, the kitchen was slow, but the food was very good. We had the chicken, with an assortment of sides, mac + cheese, savannah red rice, and fries. the mac and the rice was delicious, very well made and tasty. The fries were under cooked and very greasy. The chicken did not dissapoint, they do not bread it, just fry it. It was perfect fried on the outside, juicy on the inside. I was dissapointed when I received the check, that nothing was comped, (the waiter accidentally spilled soda all over us) not the drinks (soft drinks), not the sides, not even the dessert. When I mentioned it to the Manager, he asked why? In the service industry, and I had to explain that if you treat customers well, they will be back.

This was the worst experience ever. We met family coming from South Carolina and were so excited to try this historic “treasure.” As soon as we walked it, the smell of the place made me reconsider my choice. It smelled like old cleaning solutions, as in dirty cleaning water. We gave it a chance anyway and soon regretted it. The server took roughly 20 mins to get my water and an extra 15 to get my husbands sweet tea. We were still waiting on the rest of the party so we didn’t make a fuss about the long wait. Once the entire party was seated it took another 30 mins for him to come back with their drinks and take our order. The orders came out wrong. We asked for baked chicken and got fried, asked for one side and got another. The steak my brother in law ordered was tough and over cooked (we’d asked for medium). What bothered us the most was that my nephews order (chicken fingers and mac and cheese) was forgotten. We all had our food and asked around for out waiter to inquire about his meal. It took 15 mins to get him to come to the table and when he did he said they must not have brought it out. He left and took another 20 mins to come back with the chicken fingers. He never apologized and never accepted his mistake of not checking on the orders after they arrived. All of us left hungry and upset. The only thing that made the meal great was seeing family from so far away. We did alert the waiter of the issues and nothing was said or done. We will never go back again. For the price and time it took from us I wish I could rate it no stars.

Went to school at SCAD back in the late 80’s, early 90’s and had my graduation party there. TO THIS DAY, my loyalty to JH’ sauce is unmoved, So much so, I had it shipped to the Canary Island, Spain in a few occasions to school my fellow Spaniards about PROPER AMERICAN BBQ sauce, no the crab they eat – and I can’t believe I am gonna type this – freaking Tony Roman’s. Makes me want to slap myself just for writing that name.

BBQ sauce is one of America’s greatest contribution to the culinary history of the world and JH is its apostle. And this is not an opinion, it’s a declaration.

Boom!!..That just happened right there.

It was our first time trying this establishment and it was pretty slow so we thought we can get a table and enjoy our lunch . We waited for 10 minutes for someone to get our drink order and no one came to acknowledge us . We left 5 minutes later after we noticed a waitress ignoring our table . Even if we didn’t get to eat here we will most likely not be coming back to this business with service this nasty.

I’m a fan of the BBQ here, granted I usually order my food and pick it up but the quality is impressive. The sauce the restaurant provides is quite tasty as well.
