What a shame. This used to be a restaurant of good quality people and food. My oh my have we fallen from grace. Truly sad to see authentic Mexican food turn into whatever you’d call what they serve now.

Durango Colorado hidden gem. This place is that hole in the wall type of place that most look for. Simple menu with tasty options! The Double Decker was really good. The green chili here is so good. Be sure to check the hours before heading there. This is also cash only, but there is an ATM inside, so it’s really not an issue. Make sure and try the sopapilla’s with honey! Highly recommend at least trying this place.

This was our second attempt at giving them a chance. First time was not much better. We ordered the stacked beef enchiladas and although the red chili was fair and there was only three nickle sized ground beef pieces in my enchiladas, my husband said there was none his. The red chili was loaded with pinto beans and little to no meat. They really need to call them bean enchiladas. Pretty disappointed.

We enjoyed revisiting this restaurant from our high school days in Durango. The restaurant is very clean. Staff is friendly. Service is quick. The prices are great! We split the Pancho Plate and ordered a taco a la carte. Plus a soda, chips, and salsa. Our bill came in right under $20 plus tip. This a cash only establishment, but there is an ATM if you forget your cash. They charge for chips and salsa. The tacos are served soft, nicely flavored ground beef, with the corn tortilla lightly cooked. The tamale was dry so we added salsa and mixed it with the pinto beans. The burrito with green chili sauce was good, flour tortilla was fresh. The green chili sauce was just right with heat and not too acidic. The pinto beans were cooked perfectly… we wished we would have ordered rice to go with our plate. The salsa is homemade, packs a little heat, and is a little acidic but tastes good on everything. We saw locals which is a great sign that you are eating at a favorite restaurant. Definitely recommend!

I heard they were a Durango institution so I wanted to give them a try. I got the taco ‘special’ and was surprised it was grocery store taco shells with flavorless ground beef. It was served with rice with tomato soup and stewed tomatoes. I have never had such bad, expensive tacos. Never going back.

No cheese green chile beef burrito for me and my mother had the smothered burrito no chile…both dishes very delicious and just right portions. Service was quick and very clean tables and attentive staff. Loved it. Will go back again.

Been a Durango resident for 21 years and been coming off and on to Griegos over the years, but today the lunch portion left a little to be desired. Carnitas plate, three tiny strips of carnitas and maybe four tablespoons of pinto beans. Wanted to say something but i’m generally a nice guy. Really? Thank goodness they brought by two sopapillas or else I would’ve had to go to Wendy’s afterwards to feel satisfied. $23 later with tip for a meager ration. Won’t be back, btw I’m an adult male that weighs 160 lbs.
