Macon Street Tacos on the McDonough Square (16 Macon Street) is everything you want in a hometown restaurant – and then some. They serve Mexican cuisine with a wonderfully generous and well-executed menu: perfectly cooked tacos, street fries, nachos, quesadillas, and more. Beyond the food, they also offer ice cream, Jarritos sodas, coffee, tea, and lemonade, alongside a thoughtful selection of craft beer, margaritas, and sangria. Do yourself a favor and order the Margarita Swirl – it’s excellent and festive in all the right ways.
I’m a McDonough native son who has lived in New York City for over 40 years, and Macon Street Tacos is always a must-stop whenever I’m home. This holiday season, we chose it as the gathering place for our 50-year reunion of the Henry County High School Class of 1975, and it could not have been more perfect. Owners Katy and Becky are the very definition of gracious hospitality – welcoming, warm, and genuinely invested in making everyone feel at home. They opened their doors (and hearts) to us, and our group had a magnificent time celebrating in their charming back room.
The staff truly shines. Servers Emma and Sydney were fun, professional, and attentive throughout the evening. Shane generously helped us with the sound system, and Asher was fantastic when we stopped by a few days before the event to walk through the space. Every interaction was marked by positivity, care, and a sincere desire to make the experience special.
Thank you, Macon Street Tacos, Becky and Katy & the entire team for making our reunion into a forever-treasured memory. I’ll be back on every visit home, and it’s no surprise that many of my local friends make this their regular weekly meeting spot. Great food, great drinks, and smart, heartfelt hospitality – this place is a true gem on the Square.

Nice little spot nestled in the McDonough Square. The food is pretty good. I had the shrimp tacos and loaded nachos. My husband has the chicken tacos and the quasadias. All were pretty good.

Great place, with friendly staff eager to help and answer questions. They were delighted to find out that I was a new customer and inquired about how I found out about them, which honestly was merely by just passing by. The location was very clean and colorful, with murals and pictures on the walls. They had easy to read digital menus up behind the counter with a good variety of selections. This was definitely good food and worth a repeat trip.

I stopped in today and grabbed some lunch and it was absolutely delicious! Buffalo Chicken Flautas for the win! I was greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. Seemed like a new employee was being trained and she was all smile, attentive, and very thorough in asking what I would like. I will definitely be coming back asap!

This is a great little taco place right in the McDonough square. The food is awesome. I had the classic 2 beef hard tacos and one buffalo chicken taco. You can tell the food is fresh, the tomatoes were fresh, and the queso is awesome. Highly recommend, Katy has a great place here.

Macon Street Tacos on the McDonough Square serves up excellent Mexican food Tex-mex style. They have become a go to hang out on the strip for food and fun. Game nights, open mic nights and local bands keep locals coming back for more. They even do an excellent job serving private events. Good people, good food, good fun.

This place definitely wasn’t my favorite! I absolutely love tacos but unfortunately this place missed the mark. Both me and my son had tacos here and were both disappointed in the lack of flavor. I ordered 3 and ate 1.5 and he ate one of his. The service was good, and the place is cool, they even had open mic nite which is nice but, I doubt I’ll ever come back as the food did not taste good at all.

We ordered one soft taco, 1 chicken quesadilla, and one shrimp nacho.
We received the wrong order for the taco. The chicken quesadilla was very bland with very little ingredients inside of the tortilla. The tortilla appeared to be barely heated. It was almost as if it came straight out the pack. The shrimp nacho had non seasoned shrimp with a drop of cheese on it. This place most definitely missed the marked! For the amount of money we spent, it was very disappointing. We will not be returning to this establishment.

Love this place! The food is hot and fresh with lots of options. The staff is always friendly, patient while you decide what you want, and flexible in customizing your order. The music they host is always a delight and varied. You can’t go wrong eating here! Thanks Katie & Becky for a great time!!
