If you’re not paying attention, you can easily drive right past it! Co plate small town restaurant feel with limited seating. The food was delish!! Fantastic sausage gravy! The server was funny and snarky.
We were traveling from Chicago to South Bend and wanted something outside of Chicago proper. If we ever drive from Chicago to South Bend, we will definitely come back!
I ordered the Mom’s Meat Mess (and added Cholula), and it was scrumptious!! One of my friends order the Haystack and loved it. I do like that her meal came with crispy hash browns. Next time, I’ll see if I can replace the country potatoes with the crispy hash browns in the Mom’s Meat Mess. Also, the OJ wasn’t freshly squeezed, but it was still good. Lastly, it was cash only.

Super cute place near Pine lake.
We stopped there for lunch.
The service was fast. The ambiance was friendly. The lady who took our orders was really nice and kind. The food was basic but delicious. Everything was fresh.
We were happy that a place like this still exists nowadays despite the fast food chains that are all over.
If you look for a cozy place with human contact and good food, this is probably the one.

This place has an old school homey feel and the food is good. Prices are the best in town . Very fair. Service is attentive and really I have nothing bad to say. I hope this place is around for many more years and doesn’t change.

An eclectic place for sure.,the staff and the clientele. Obviously the staff knew the people at a table near to us, as the server joked loudly with them.
The food was good and hot. My wife got the chili (needed some salt and sugar) and I got a burger with the works and fries.

I’ve been there four times now while in the area for work and have zero complaints. Being CASH ONLY is a minor inconvenience but it keeps prices reasonable. I get the Meat Mess every time and it’s a struggle to finish because it’s a huge portion.

I called to place a to-go order and was asked to hold because they had a customer in the building needing to make an order, I am still on hold hearing everyone’s conversations as I type this…it has been 33 minutes so far. This is unacceptable as a small business, this place is small and I know from being there they receive a lot of carry out orders. We just reached 35 minutes of being on the phone while the phone is laid down on a counter.

Normal portions, bland food, subpar service, high than normal prices for a small cafe. Or a very welcoming environment. The attention goes to all the older & local business. Gravy was watered down and lacked the flavor. Simple requests seemed to be bothersome to the waitress who also complained quite a bit.
The biscuits were very sour but were homemade. Quite possibly the worst food I’ve had in a long time. The gravy had lots of salt to make up for the lack in flavor caused by watering it down to yield it more. There was very little room to sit so if you plan on coming with more than 4 people you probably won’t have room to sit as only 1 table was free.
All in all, with the poor taste in food I would of gave 3 stars but the unwelcoming environment makes this a 1 star place. With such a big tourist area you’d think they’d be more welcoming but if you’re not a local good luck getting service that’s decent
