The only small service miss was that no one asked how I wanted my eggs cooked. I happen to like them runny, so it worked out for me, but it could be an issue for guests who prefer them more well done. They were also out of lots of menu items (cafe).
The atmosphere is beautiful and really adds to the overall experience. The only downside was when we were leaving, there were around six dogs gathered in the lobby area, which made it a bit difficult to move around. If the restaurant is dog-friendly, it would be helpful to have clear signage at the entrance so guests who are uncomfortable around dogs or have allergies know in advance.
The drink menu is truly unique and creative. Standouts include the Salt Yard Latte, an espresso with caramel and sea salt, the Matcha Dubai Chocolate, and the honey lavender latte—each one thoughtfully crafted and perfectly balanced. These aren’t just drinks; they feel like small indulgent experiences.
Beyond coffee, Salt Yard also offers an extensive menu of breakfast plates, making it an ideal spot whether you’re grabbing a morning latte or settling in for a relaxed breakfast. Everything about the space—from the ambiance to the menu—feels intentional and refined.
If you’re looking for a coffee spot in Portland that blends exceptional design, inventive drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere, Salt Yard is absolutely worth a visit. ☕✨
The coffee was to die for, and the vibe was exactly what we wanted. I even missed cafe hours on Monday, and the bartender still made our coffee. That kind of service makes a place memorable.
10/10 would go back and I havent stopped thinking about that coffee.
We were not outside but it was a very trendy neat place. Our food was delicious- the potatoes extra crispy, soup plentiful ( creamy though not thick broth) and with good flavor. Eggs Benedict great- fresh bread, eggs cooked just right.
Bathrooms-“all are welcome” design which is not something I have encountered before and don’t care for.
The food here is outstanding. Every plate that came to the table was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in using fresh ingredients and putting thought into every dish. Whether it was the perfectly cooked mains, the creative appetizers, or the irresistible desserts, everything was made with care and attention to detail. The drink menu is just as impressive, offering a variety of handcrafted cocktails, quality wines, and great coffee. Each drink felt thoughtfully created, not just thrown together.
What truly makes Salt Yard Cafe & Bar exceptional is the people. The staff are warm, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. They have a way of making you feel like a valued guest, remembering small details and going the extra mile to make sure your visit is perfect. It is rare to find a team that clearly enjoys what they do and takes pride in every interaction.
Whether you are stopping in for a casual coffee, meeting friends for a drink, or enjoying a full meal, Salt Yard delivers an experience that is both comfortable and elevated. It has quickly become one of my favorite spots and a place I will be recommending to everyone I know.
Service was great, so tip well even though it is half self-serve (you order at the counter and they bring it to you).
The atmosphere was also nice. Not sure if I will he back anytime soon but if you try to find a place to have brunch/lunch on a Sunday in Portland, definitely Salt Yard is a good option.
