Inspired by the warmth and camaraderie of Irish pubs, we are nestled in the Ohio River town of Portsmouth. We feature a blend of classic pub fare as well as local favorites, along with 12 brews on tap and beers sourced both regionally and from the Celtic Isles. In the evenings, we host group get-togethers, open poetry nights, Pub Quiz nights, and opportunities for local musicians to try out their latest work. On Friday and Saturday nights, sit back and enjoy live music, accompanied by a premium whiskey, wine, or mixed drink special from our full bar.

This was an awesome place! The Shepherd’s Pie is delicious and quite a hearty portion. The appetizer nachos had a lot of flavor and came with salsa and sour cream. The atmosphere was just dim enough and quiet, despite being 5 in the afternoon. Service was good and fast. We will definitely be eating there again next time we are in Portsmouth, OH!

I had a great experience at Port City Pub. We ordered the chili cheese fries, and cheesesteak sandwich with tomato soup. We also tried the Celtic Lemonade and Moscow Mule. Everything was delicious and fairly priced. It was warm, and the live music provided a fun and inviting atmosphere. Our waiter and the bartender were attentive and kind. Will definitely be coming back to try more of their menu!

Was not aware of Port City Pub till I was left struggling to find somewhere in Northeastern Kentucky to enjoy a Irish meal to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. Eastern Kentucky has no Irish pride I’ve noticed and to the many its just another day.
A search on the internet yielded not many results but Port City Pub in southern Ohio caught my attention. Its advertising of good food, bar, and live music had me ready to make the 40 minute drive. The drive was well worth it!
A classic Irish pub with a menu that can satisfy anyone from fish n chips to steak. Various sandwiches from clubs to turkey. Several different beers on tap and one of the friendliest staffs I’ve ever encountered.
Being its Saint Patrick’s Day a live band performed excellent Irish folk songs and gave it a almost out of time atmosphere.
We of course went with the shepherd’s pie and was happy we did but do plan on going back soon to try other menu items.
Prices were extremely fair and they even offered various discounts such as law enforcement which I refuse to ask for but was still nice to see they offered.

The best part of our meal was the side salad. The salmon was over cooked and the cauliflower rice had little flavor. I enjoyed the shepherds pie. The music was good although very loud…not a good atmosphere for socializing. We didn’t realize there was a whole back area. It would be nice if they served in the front area for those who want it a bit more quiet.

Daughter, husband, and I had drinks and appetizer here during happy hour on Friday 11/24 while in town for Winterfest. Our server was very kind. We enjoyed the beer flight, pineapple upside down cake cocktail, and hummus w/ pita bread/veggies. Convenient parking behind building, cozy fireplace, live music are other features that will bring us back for future visits.

I eat here weekly for lunch, I’ve had a few different things from here and I have never had anything bad. Over the past couple weeks I branched out and tried the grilled chicken bacon queso burrtio and the western burger. If you’re in the area I would highly recommend checking them out.

My wife, daughter and I met my high school classmate that I hadn’t seen in over 30 years and her 14 year old son for dinner at Port City because we heard the food was good and the atmosphere was friendly. I’ll start off by pointing out we unintentionally went on karaoke night so that was probably our biggest mistake. The waitress was friendly and the food was good so no problems there. The volume was turned up a few octaves too high on the sound system so we had to yell back and forth over the table in order to have a conversation. As the evening progressed, the “gentleman” controlling the microphone seemed to get louder and more obnoxious probably due to intoxication. In turn, this led to an uncountable number of curse words and obscenities flowing through the speakers at the highest volume imaginable. At first I just assumed the before mentioned person just had a lack of awareness that younger people were in attendance. But then it was almost as if the crude language and behavior was being done intentionally because it increased exponentially as we got up to make our exit. My classmate and her son was in for a short time from Dallas and we drove from Chillicothe to meet them only to have this unfortunate experience. All I can say is, Portsmouth has indeed fallen on hard times if this is their idea of class.
