The Tremont building has been part of Collingwood since 1889, first a Victorian hotel, later restored and now home to artist studios and dining. The restaurant once known as Tremont has since moved onto Hurontario Street, opening the door for Poppy’s to move in. Our server mentioned the new owners are currently involved with a handful of other dining places around Ontario.

Wonderful lunch for a special birthday 2 PM this Thursday sun was shining enough to warrant the lovely patio but we opted to be one of a few tables inside. Drinks ordered, food ordered, and everything came spectacularly—service was on point.

Steak Tartare, Gnocchi, and a Niçoise Salad with Tuna were ordered by the group; I had the Beef Dip. Everyone exclaimed the food to be great, including my Beef Dip. I reserved some of the horseradish from our appetizer oysters to be put on my sandwich. The server quickly caught what I was up to and offered fresh horseradish, but I opted to be resourceful. Pro move, thank you for asking.

Dessert came and it too was a treat. The crème brûlée was nice on the eyes, a little small but tasteful. The Baked Alaska was much larger and what a treat it turned out to be-all had to share in this marvel. Even the Americano coffee was absolutely tasty. Just a great experience altogether—wonderful day. We all will return, there is a lovely private dining room upon entering and for those who want to venture upstairs and check out the artwork (also adjacent) to the restaurant, arrive early or stay late to do so.

Unexpected gem found in Collingwood! Very cozy, beautiful place with great service and French food! We tried bisque, tuna tartar, mussels, everything was delicious. The crème brûlée were better than in most Parisian bistros I’ve been to.

Such a cute and pretty French bistro with the coziest atmosphere. The French onion soup was rich and comforting, the lobster bisque was absolutely incredible, and the croque madame was perfectly crisp and indulgent. Pair all of that with their delicious, well-crafted cocktails and it makes for the most lovely dining experience. Can’t wait to return!

I went there for dinner with friends last night, we got there a bit late, but they were so nice and gave us amazing service.
The french onion soup was amazing, very authentic, all their salads were freshly cut with very tasty dressing.
I got the confit duck, I really enjoyed how juicy and cooked to perfection. I also tried their gnocchi, it was so flavorful.
Our server was definitely one of the best I have ever had, she was so attentive to details, and proper.
Highly recommended, 5 stars all the way.

Poppy’s was an amazing experience. My partner took me there for a birthday lunch
We got a couple appetizers, the oysters so fresh and delicious, and the beef tartar with a perfect curred egg yolk on top.
We got the Gnocchi ( one of the best we’ve ever had) and the Croque Madame. Both made to perfection.

We were hoping for the Confit duck leg, but they were all out. (too many people had the same idea!) Guess we will just have to go back.

They even gave us a free slice of cheesecake!

Thank you!

Definitely recommend.

One word to describe this restaurant would be TASTY!! With two exclamation marks. To start off I had two salads; The beet, goat cheese mascarpone, blueberry and sunflower seed AND The little gems greens salad more like an upscale house salad with grape tomatoes. Yum!! Crisp, fresh and a delight to share with my guest. The beet salad was a nice variety served in a tower plating style and visually enticing and inviting. For the main I enjoyed the black cod, poached in white wine. I took a video to show that when I pierced through the fish the juices rolled out and it was glistening inside. Cooked to perfection served skin side up. The entire plate blended so beautifully and was so smooth creamy and decadent yet light. The sauce was like a broth but looks a bit like a cream (it looks so rich in the image I took) and was gentle and delicate. I had the choice to sit inside or outside and chose inside. The patio is sizeable and is suitable for large groups. The parking lot with ample spots was right next to the restaurant. This is an older historic building, very classy and well maintained. Our server Stephanie was pleasant and made sure this was an experience I would recommend to anyone in or around the Collingwood area. I will be returning. Poppy’s French Bistro on Simcoe Street just off of Hurontario Street.

Atmosphere could have been better if we had been sat outside or a better inside table. Place could use a little Reno. They wre very busy and reservation was made day of, a couple of hours prior. Glad we were able to get the reservation as I had been wanting to try this restaurant. The food did not disappoint! Fabulous. Four dining bill was $350. with tip, did include a $70.00 bottle of wine. Well worth it!!
