La Jaiba Brava is hands down one of the best hidden gems around. The food is absolutely incredible, but the star of the show has to be the mocajete. I can’t recommend it enough—it comes out sizzling, packed with flavor, and every bite is out-of-this-world good. You get that perfect mix of spice, freshness, and richness that keeps you coming back for more.
The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is lively yet welcoming. Whether you’re going with family, friends, or just craving something special, this is the spot. Trust me—order the mocajete, you’ll thank me later!

Delicious! Already planning what else to order on our next visit. Chips & salsa to start was great. Al Pastor enchilada was perfect. Carnitas nachos hit the spot & pushed the limit of what we could fit in our bellies.
Francisco’s smile is contagious, & he brought us some complementary fresh birria he had just made which was awesome. Sit down or take out, do yourself a favor & visit them soon!

I was hoping for Baja-style seafood, and this restaurant delivered. It has a welcoming, casual feel, and seems to be a popular spot with locals, which is a good sign.

What a surprise! Our granddaughter recommended this establishment and she was “right on”. We have eaten dinner here a few times and each time the food and service was great. No problems, no complaints. Where the locals eat in Santa Cruz… Peace

My new favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz! Everything I’ve tried here has been amazing, the portion size is huge, the staff are always helpful and friendly, and it’s a great spot to eat for two people or a large group.

From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and appreciated. The atmosphere is lively yet comfortable, with warm decor that makes you feel at home. But let’s talk about the food—simply outstanding! Every dish is bursting with authentic Mexican flavors, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, the tacos were packed with mouth-watering fillings, and the enchiladas… just wow. To top it off, the service was impeccable; our server was friendly, attentive, and truly knowledgeable about the menu. If you’re craving Mexican food, look no further. This place is a must-visit! We’ll be back again and again!

I walkde into this place because I was feeling like seafood. It sounded like a good idea at the time. I got seated and had my waiter asked me what I wanted alll seemed going as well until. False advertising for the shrimp cocktail I received had no muscles only 1. And price was expensive not cheap. I asked my waiter what her name was. So I may communicate with her. She replied me! And turned left and right. I feel she must of thought I was trying to hit on her. And then the cook brought my food to the table more liquid than food. Expect for prawns. Low end seafood place. Salsa was dull and pico de gallo was old looking unappetizing. Go to Watsonville for some real Mexican seafood. Unless you wanna throw away your money go here. Just saying.
