My husband and I went here for the first time about a week and a half ago and it was FANTASTIC. Our server, Brittney, was the absolute best. My husband took me here as a surprise date to celebrate my getting a new job. Part way through the meal, Brittney came up and gave me a “congratulations” card and said congrats on the new job!! I had no idea my husband had even mentioned it to her, and he was surprised as well that they went so above and beyond to make me feel special. She also answered several questions we had, she seemed extremely knowledgeable, and was super attentive all night.

I had the chicken risotto and my husband had the Appalachian stir fry, and both were AMAZING. I tried his and it was delicious, but hand to god, that risotto was one of the best meals I’ve had in the past 10 years. I will be thinking about that risotto for the rest of my life. And everything was played so beautifully, the chefs really did an exceptional job.

The drinks were also great. My husband had one of the specialty drinks, some kind of spin on a tequila sunrise (sorry I don’t remember the name) and I had the Pinot Grigio. They have a solid wine list, great craft beer list, and amazing cocktails.

I genuinely give this place 10/10 in every aspect. We will definitely be back!!

This is a restaurant in Oak Ridge which stands equal against any restaurant in Knoxville, Old Town, or Market Square. The food is unique with a menu that changes each season, the service is always exceptional. I also find that the bartender mixes perfect drinks no matter what I’ve ordered there from a simple gin and tonic to one of the menu mixed drinks, it’s always been absolutely spot on. Sadly, the only reason I give the atmosphere a four-star instead of five, is that some of our locals don’t realize the quality of the restaurant where they are eating and don’t always dress appropriately. This is not a jeans and T-shirt eatery, dress the part you’ll appreciate the experience more if you do. If you’re going to eat on the weekend it is highly recommended to get a reservation ahead of time. I ate here tonight for the third time and each time I have been truly amazed at execution of the dishes. Before you drive all the way into Knoxville, give this diamond in the rough a chance.

The absolute best meal experience that my husband and I have had in years. The bread and fritters were great. Our entrees were flawless. No notes. The chef was super cool. Our server Gabriel was perfection. He knew all about the menu and treated us like we were VIPs. Thank you for the experience. We will see you soon.

First time coming here and it was empty. Had to wait like 20 mins for someone to come out. The grill chicken was more like steamed or baked chicken. The sandwich with focaccia bread was too dense. Focaccia bread is suppose to be airy with air bubbles. All I tasted was bread, it had a small layer of steak. Fries were good tho.

F&S takes risks and creates their own flavors and colors for unique entrees:) I luv trying new food combos whether I end up liking them or not.
The bright white, open floor seating in the right wing is not cozy at all, but perfect for larger groups.
Gabby rocks with large groups and she knows the menu well!!

My wonderful wife planned a surprise birthday dinner for me and invited some treasured friends. We had 7pm reservations and our table was readybright on time.
Atmosphere was bright with a clean esthetic touched with elements of rustic charm. We had a six top table along the wall with chairs on one side and a booth bench along the wall side. The booth bench cushion was a bit lumpy but i was able to find a comfortable spot.
The service was excellent. We had some special order requests which were handled with professionalism and grace.
The food was also top notch. The charcuterie board was very good even if it might have benefited from more meat elements. It was by no means skimpy, just leaned in more heavily on cheese. I had the special pork trio and it was a tour de force of porcine deliciousness.
Sadly, they were out of several of the dessert options but the tiramisu was very good.
Fire and Salt is a great choice for a celebration or just an enjoyable dinner for a random night. If you are in the Oak Ridge area, treat yourself to a visit.

We finally discovered Oak Ridge’s best restaurant, and it is a welcomed gem in this town’s dining scene. Coming from a city known for its rich cultural and culinary landscape, I wouldn’t typically describe Oak Ridge as a foodie destination, but I would recommend Fire & Salt to anyone.

The restaurant has an interesting setup: one side is dark and aesthetically pleasing, while the other half is stark white and somewhat resembles an afterthought. I believe a designer could help enhance that white room with something eye-catching! Nevertheless, it was clean and comfortable. The noise level was reasonable, allowing us to carry on a conversation with ease.

Our server was very friendly and did his best to keep up on a busy night. He made good recommendations and was quick to notice when the wrong wine was delivered to our table.

They have craft cocktails on the menu, which made my cocktail enthusiast heart very happy! And they executed them exceptionally well! That evening, I opted for the Slap and Tickle, an eye-catching concoction of gin, Aperol, Cynar, egg white, lemon juice, and simple syrup. I had to pace myself because it was incredibly drinkable! For my second drink, our server recommended the Queen of Winter, stating, “It is a crowd favorite,” and I can see why! Not only was it visually appealing, but the mix of vodka, sumac syrup, Chartreuse, lime juice, and cranberry was a delicious combination. I would have loved a third cocktail, but someone had to drive home!

For food, we chose the smoked fish dip. I have to say I wasn’t a fan of this dish at all; although the pickles were good, the dip itself fell flat in flavor. The crackers, coated in what tasted like Old Bay seasoning, overpowered the fish. This was my only disappointment of the evening, and I believe they should reconsider that dish.

For dinner, we selected the mahi special, local mushrooms, and the Fire & Salt filet. All were outstanding and cooked to perfection! Just thinking about them again while writing this has my mouth watering! The presentation was beautiful, which I appreciated as well. Of course, we saved room for dessert. The pound cake was amazing, especially with the velvety vanilla anglaise. The figgy bread pudding was okay, but it was very rich and a bit overly sweet for my personal preference. They had also run out of port, which left me a bit sad, but after two cocktails, did I really need one?

Overall, we had a very nice evening and dinner. I’m excited to return to try more dishes and will certainly make this my go-to spot for bringing guests when they visit me in my new city.

I love this locally owned restaurant that doesn’t conform to local norms. We finally get a dining experience in Oak Ridge. The classically trained chefs, the mixologist, the seasonal specials and personable knowledgeable staff is NOT lost in me and much appreciated. I have been coming here for 3 years this month and I have NEVER had an entree I didn’t enjoy. I bring out of town guests who are shocked by this restaurant in our secret city.

I hate leaving any kind of negative review for a locally owned restaurant but this place is confusing. The atmosphere gives off more of a brunch/casual eatery vibe rather than an upscale dining experience (but the menu prices do not reflect that). I had the fire & salt filet and while the filet itself was tender, the meal itself didn’t blow me away. My husband had the pork porterhouse and it was very tough, difficult to cut, and lacked flavor. We also had a side of fries, and I will say those were excellent. The Mac and cheese was also fairly good. The focaccia bread appetizer seems priced too high in my opinion. Overall, not sure if we will be back.
