The food was ok. The gumbo was good. The cheese dip was ok. The crab cakes were good…not great.

Intimate place for lunch or take out! I can vouch for the crab cakes! The remoulade is scrumptious too! My husband bragged on the etoufee. Of course the croutons and cheese spread are delicious — same as Johnny Cace’s used to be!

I really enjoyed the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. It easily is the best in Longview. The main reason I didn’t give it five stars is the price. I got a bowl of gumbo which was more the size of a cup (their cup is just an even smaller cup). It costs $12 with tax. To be honest this was not filling. Most Cajun restaurants I have been to will give a large bowl of gumbo with a decent bit of rice to help fill. This bowl was really just a glorified cup at bowl prices. To be honest, for the quantity of gumbo, these were fine dining soup prices in a more casual setting.

Now I will note everything else on the menu is reasonably priced. I would just recommend getting something else with the gumbo, and be prepared to pay premium (for the gumbo). Nevertheless, I recommend this place to anyone who is willing to pay a bit for some good gumbo.

Also I noticed the owner is responsive to reviews so I would just like to ask why is gumbo quantity and price set the way it is? There are other places in Longview and Louisiana that will give much larger portions for about the same price. Is it premium ingredients? I’m just genuinely curious.

Their shrimp avocado salad was fabulous. Super quick service. I also grabbed some pickles which were great and some of their garlic toast. The toast was 50/50. Some was really great and some was dripping with oil and just too greasy. I’ll be back again for sure.

Had to pop in to grab some croutons, cheese, and corn relish for a get-to-gather. Everything was as delicious as I remembered, if not better. Also, I use a crutch to get around and had quite the juggle between crutch, bags, and wallet. The beautiful lady at the register didn’t even need to be asked… she just jumped right in to help get my items back to my car. What a pleasant experience!!

We ordered their food on GoldBelly, without reading the ingredients carefully. We definitely should have. Never in a million years would I have imagined that a local business uses all these artificial colors and preservatives in their gumbo! This is insane! We will not buy from here again.

When your engaged to a girl that was born a raised in the state of Louisiana…. well… sometimes expectations can be high. Few months ago when went and ate at Tias’s fish house and while eating i told her about how this building used to be a famous seafood and steak house. A few weeks later she was talking about how she was wanting to either make some gumbo or Etouffee. So that evening I decided to surprise her…. she gets off kind of late so earlier that day I swung by Caces kitchen and picked up some gumbo to so along with the crunchy bread and cheese spread. She got home that night and was immediately skeptical on it actual being “good gumbo”. One of the few times I have truly proved her wrong….she loved it. We actually had lunch at Ki Mexico today and as we were leaving we had to stop in and grab a lil etouffee… bread and cheese spread for later!!
