Wow. That’s pretty much all I need to say. Built into an old house, this restaurant has a quaint, fun vibe…and the food is absolutely incredible.
My wife and I started with the spiced chickpeas and the Caesar salad. For drinks, we ordered the Winter // Green and the When the Walls Fell. Both amazing.
We followed that with the Lavender and Anchovy-Rubbed Pinn Oaks Leg of Lamb and the Spicy Crab Pasta. It’s a lot of food, but I probably could have kept eating because it was that good.
The staff was really nice…fantastic bartenders. We sat at the bar, and even the other guests were friendly (not that the restaurant has control over that). That said, I’d argue they’ve created an atmosphere where people actually enjoy talking to each other.
Great food. Great service. It’s no surprise they keep popping up as James Beard Award semifinalists. Just give them the award already.
Oh, and in case the owner reads this: “Shaka, his eyes uncovered!” They’ll understand.

Going on New Year’s Day to Goodkind for their yearly brunch with friends. Personally, that was overdue but better late than never.
My friends and I ordered four dishes to share and we were all very happy with our choices.
I was not able to place a reservation but my friends and I decided to test our luck and waited a little over half an hour to sit at the bar. So, I would recommend to make a reservation if you’re looking to sit at a table.
The restaurant is cozy, warm, and friendly. So Midwestern! Servers were welcoming, busy yet productive.
We left the restaurant feeling satisfied and relaxed. Great way to start our year!

Wonderful restaurant! From the moment you arrive 15 minutes early, only to discover that you’re 45 minutes early, the staff here will take great care of you and make you feel a little less embarrassed. The cocktails are varied and delicious. The wine is limited but covers all the bases well enough. The food though, is the star of the show. Everything was spectacular. I heard that they were known for their lamb, so had that, and it was in the top 3 lamb dishes I’ve ever had. Tried all our group’s dishes and they were all equally superb. Prices are fair for quality food. The vibe is very relaxed. Parking is on the street but fairly easy. Highly recommend this place!

This place is an absolute gem! We sat outside on a beautiful Summer night. We tried many of the dishes, had some signature cocktails, and had a very relaxed pace. No one ever rushed us. The service was incredible! The food was even better! Highly recommend!

We finally checked out Goodkind thanks to a gift certificate and we’re so glad we did! It’s right in our neighborhood, yet somehow we’d never been. The service was outstanding, the drinks were excellent, and every dish was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making the whole experience even better. We had no idea what we were missing! Easily one of the best restaurants in all of Milwaukee.

My husband and I went here for dinner and had an outstanding meal. We arrived slightly early for our reservation but the restaurant got us a seat right away. Our waitress was great and thoroughly went over the menu with us as it was our first time there. She made sure the explain what menu items were always there and what ones were just seasonal. We started off with the oyster mushrooms, they were delicious. I ordered the Duroc Pork Chop and my husband got the Skate Cheek. Both were very good. They also had a nice selection of cocktails as well as NA cocktails. My only slight complaint of the whole experience was the oyster mushrooms could have been a bit hotter but even with that I would still definitely get them again. We will certainly be back next time we are in Milwaukee!

Had a lovely time at Goodkind in the lovely Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee. Party of 3. First time for me but my guests had been there several times.
Easy street parking. We had early evening reservation and were seated on time in a nice booth with street view. Cute place , nice decor.
Outstanding service- host, servers, food runner, etc were all VERY good- attentive, knowledgeable, professional, friendly. Loved the mocktails and the extensive and creative mocktail and NA beer list.
Good food and creative rotating menu. Good portions served at appropriate temp with reasonable wait time. We started with shared oysters and Cesar salad.
My only food comments—the skate cheeks entree would have been very good except it was saltier than expected or necessary. Not enough to send back but over salted for my taste. I also thought the salad was a little bit overdressed and also a bit salty.
Total tab for 3 including tax, 3% credit card fee and tip was $258.
All in all- I will definitely go back in the future.

Somehow slid into a Sat eve reservation last minute. The healthy foods creativity of the menu tantalized the foodie in me. I enjoyed the pace of the food coming out. The Caesar salad as a small plate was enough for 3-4 people as my friend and I managed to devour the plate. Loved the kombucha beverage and enough for 2 of us. The Alaskan halibut cheeks (so cute) with a mix of much else on the plate. We just had to try the lime and cashew cheesecake with pretzel crust with hibiscus sauce. We were not stuffed but fulfilled. Wow what a vibe inside. The only thing could have done without is the constant shaker noise at the bar.

My new favorite restaurant in MKE! The food was divine and delicious—the mezzaluna pasta and the cod fillet were stand-outs for sure! The service was also amazing, our server was so kind. The ambience is so cozy, perfect for a Sunday night dinner or date night. Also, the butterfly pea flower gin and tonic is one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had!
