Ranked high because of the unexpected. This is a very small (in a great way) place that totally took me by surprise. It’s on the court square in Brownsville & is quite inconspicuous, however, it’s the best, by far, of any little hole-in-the-wall restaurant I’ve ever experienced. 1st & foremost CLEAN environment, obviously someone has standards in this place. I stopped in, after a family funeral on Sunday. It was at a great time of day & was I the only customer, which, given where I’d been all afternoon, was a plus for me. The recommendations by the hostess/waitress- fish taco. Now, while I love a good fish taco, I rarely order cause Ive been burned y’all. This time, however, I ordered a fish taco. Freaking fantastic! Cabbage slaw was not chunks but nicely shaved pieces, the sauces drizzled on top of perfectly fried fish took my taste buds to next level. Wow! I asked if they could add some extra jalapeños to the cheese dip, not a problem & it was delish. Then, because I rarely see pork skins on an appetizer menu in mexican restaurants, I jumped at the chance & ordered. They came to my table still popping. Y’all, seasoned perfectly, still hot & oh so delicious. I had to dip it in my cheese dip & boy, I dont regret it. I wish I could go here every day. Now, it’s not huge, but I can imagine this place packed. Not lots of parking & bathrooms are very small- clean, nothing fancy, just small. Hands down, this will always be a fave. I hope they enjoy great success & can eventually grow into a larger place without losing the appeal. Good luck guys!

Never have I seen a restaurant that reminds me of a side-of-the-road truck stop but still serves some decent, authentic Mexican enchiladas. The service was appropriate for the price and the whole place lacks luster and frills. Plus I literally stood in line at the register for about 6 minutes while the bus boy/waiter sat and ate lunch. Not that I was in a hurry but that’s just disrespectful to a job in general.

Very good Mexican food! Pricing is also very good. Service was good as well. We eat there regularly. Have tried many of the dishes and we’re very tasty. You will not be disappointed. We eat Mexican frequently around the country and this spot is one of our most favorites. Came back two years later. Staff was personable and the food tremendous. Had the fish taco as recommended by the waitress, and it was the best fish taco I have ever eaten. The shrimp cocktail was also good. Returned two years later. Great food again. Their fish tacos were superb. Their chorizo is the very best! Came back again after a year. New owner. Same great food. Their fried pork was superb.

Customer service was horrible, He forgot my queso and this happened before with the same guy, but I called and he was so rude letting me know that he’ll check the cameras. Basically he said I was lying about not getting the queso so I just politely went back and asked for a refund. You will not handle my food with an attitude and you will not be disgusting towards me. No matter what kind of day you’re having please learn customer service skills!!!

The salsa was decent and my brother enjoyed his dinner. Unfortunately my two burritos were extremely greasy and had too much cheese. My brother on trying it gagged and couldn’t even have the one bite. Otherwise we appreciated the good service. Might come back to try other dishes but need to avoid the ground beef here unless they change the recipe.

They serve really good authentic Mexican food. Very similar to what I’ve had in southern Mexico. Portions are very generous and the staff are always very courteous. It’s our go to Mexican restaurant in Brownsville!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere there. It was peaceful and the server was very polite and nice. However, I really didn’t enjoyed the food due to refried beans were luke warm and a lil watery looking and tasty. The rest of my food was nice and hot and taste good but I have had better but overall is was a good hot meal and wonderful environment. It was very nice and clean as well. I will give it another chance another day and order something different to see how it turns out.
