Been coming to flying wienie for over 2 decades. John and Denise are just good people and the food is the best. Get an Italian sausage you will love it. Ribs are tops and homemade beans are just wonderful. If John has made soup you best try some. Just the best home made meals around. Go support a local family business.

Can’t go wrong with a Big Wienie, fries are perfectly crispy, wienie has good flavor, and quite a few options for toppings on all of their items. Might be a little slow on busy days, but with only a few guys running it all I have no complaints.

We stopped by here for lunch at a local spot and I had a Chicago Dog for the first time, and it was amazing, all the way down to the pepperoncino. The homemade fries were great as well. As a pilot, I was naturally drawn to the aviation themed place of course, and it was really interesting and had some cool decor. Most of the pictures are really old and faded, which I thought was pretty cool, but the whole place was just kinda dingy, aviation manuals on the shelves with cobwebs over them near the front door. I would have given 5 stars if the place would have been a little cleaner. I will also note that for what it was, (being pretty much a fancy hot dog) it was a long wait, about 20 minutes, but there were only two people working the kitchen, I’m not sure if there are usually more. Overall, it’s worth a stop and I’ll be in again!

Ate here 2day , was awesome food. I had chicago dog and bacon cheese fries was amazing. Fiance had Italian beef sub (wet) it was amazing too. Highly recommended. Nice to get taste of Chicago in cedar rapids iowa!

This establishment was very popular when they first opened and thru the years it sadly has declined. The decline came about bcuz in my honest opinion the owner stopped caring about how the food was prepared and focused more on financial gain thus prices went up and the quality of food went down. I got fooled into thinking my “Chicago style” hot dog was a safe bet and boy was i wrong. As anyone who had ever experienced the taste of Chicago food knows Chicago food has one thing if nothing else and that’s flavor!!! Sadly my choice that day was a bad choice, I’m not saying they can’t recover from this but I just don’t know at this point? So order at your own risk…….

Now, every time I go to this place, I always get the hot dog with fries. Not only is it inexpensive, but it’s Chicago-styled and for a woman that is originally from there, they achieve the Chicago Hot Dog perfectly.
I tried the gyro today and it is as delicious as it looks. I asked for more sauce and less onions. The owner never disappoints me!
The customer service is great and they take their time with making sure everything is done right!
Will forever come back here for some good comfort, Chicago-style food 10 out of 10!

Everything here is delicious. It is a Cedar Rapids staple and iconic location with the airplane on the roof and airplane decorations throughout the inside. They have fantastic hot dogs, gyros, burgers and appetizers. The French fries are unique and tasty as well. What a great place to eat, especially on a nice day outside sitting on their outdoor patio in the front. I definitely recommend having lunch here.

The Chicago Dog I had was okay. The bun didn’t have a tasted plain and can’t remember if there poppy seeds. The dog was thin. I’m not sure it was a Vienna Beef Hot Dog. The French fries were undercooked. They were covered in oil but the interior was cool.
