Really solid chinese takeout. Prices are normal, and portions are correct. Loved the ” kiss of the dragon” wok sear on the stir fry. Gave it that SMOKEY flavor you expected from the wok. Some hit and some miss items. Chicken wings are top notch, Lo-mein is top notch and main chicken/beef dishes were solid.
Egg rolls were small and Lotta dough, little filling and the fried dumplings/potatoes sticks were on the bland side. Over all this place hit the spot, and the owner lady is amazing! Super friendly and talkative, and vibrant! This place will hit the spot for the main dishes you want, such as Pork Fried Rice and such.

I first tried them when I moved here 14 years ago and was not impressed. Tried them one other time and still no improvement so I would go to other places throughout the area. A few months back, I was in a rush so I gave them a 3rd try and found the food had so much improved. One of very few restaurants whose fried rice is brown and not yellow. Been going back numerous times ever since.

I ordered the Happy Family which has shrimp and Scallops in it, mine had (2) Shrimp and (2) Scallops. It tasted great but for the money and what they advertise it was not what I expected.

Overcharged over sweet general tao chicken. The pork fried rice was bland for a large. It was not large and I got a small box of rice for $17. Got a long leg don’t think it was a chicken leg. Never seen general Tao with a long leg in it. The food was drenched in sweetness. The once in a blue time I get Chinese food it was tooooo sweet, weird pieces of supposed chicken and way over price for a regular size dish. When I asked how much chicken wings she said four pieces are $9, I said no thnx. Then asked if that lady if they had crab sticks she said no. I said you guys don’t have that because every other Chinese does she said hmmmm and spoke Chinese in a snobby way. She is lucky I was in a great mood. Then I pick up my food and she said you want sauce you get it there and walked away no thank you for coming and have a good day. Check your nasty altitude, if we stop spending you will not have a job and you will be shut down. Treat all your customers good and be friendly and actually cook fresh food and stop reheating old food . I’m done buying Chinese food in Nc it sucks and I cook ten times better at home. Garbage and a waste of money and nasty customer service. I’m done buying Chinese food in Nc it is nasty n the service is nasty. do not support these people that do not appreciate your money or Support.

A Hidden Gem with Unmatched Quality and Heart
As someone who has traveled extensively up and down the East Coast—from Florida to Pennsylvania—in search of great Chinese cuisine, I can confidently say that China Garden in Concord (on Hwy 601) stands in a class of its own.
This isn’t just a hometown favorite or a nostalgic stop—this restaurant consistently delivers on exceptional food, warm hospitality, and top-notch service. The staff here genuinely care, and it shows in every detail, from the way you’re greeted at the door to the thoughtfulness poured into each dish.
Their sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken are personal standouts—perfectly balanced, fresh, and full of flavor. But truthfully, every item on the menu reflects a deep commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Whether you’re local or just passing through, China Garden is worth the visit. A true testament to what a neighborhood restaurant should be.
Thank you, China Garden, for setting the bar so high.

Food is inconsistent, but the best Chinese, in my opinion, in the area. We order extra chicken in the fried rice to get a satisfying amount & what they charge varies.

We are regulars, usually getting takeout at least once a month until a few months ago. The fried rice and lo mein have had a burnt/smoky flavor which is very overpowering making it taste terrible. We gave it a break for a few months and tried again tonight and thw food has that same smokiness to it. The egg rolls get smaller and smaller and the crab rangoon was chewy. We will not be eating from here again for a while, very unfortunate as it’s been so good and consistent for years up until recently.
