Haven’t tried the sushi yet but when I went with my husband and a friend we picked fried rice and my friend had a soup. Definitely not worth the trip nor the money we spent. They do give large portions but is mainly rice with barely any flavor to it. The soup was flavorless and the fried rice was bland and barely had any vegetables or egg.

Sorry but I won’t be back. Strike one was virtually raw ribs that ended up in the trash .. second and final was today. 40 something bucks for a half pound of brisket and half pound of turkey. Turkey was only flavorful at the outside. Very bland and honestly cold. The brisket.., I got one kinda thick slice that was lucky to weigh a quarter pound. Luke warm . The outside was tough and the inside was extremely fatty everywhere. Not rendered at all no flavor. Tasted really old and chewed the same. Here’s the thing. I work hard for my money. For me this was a treat. I would have been happier with a Big Mac

Hwy 190 rolls is the family fav. However, volcano # 2 delish. I have dined in and got it to go. Food is always good. However, any substitutes or questions are not always received well. The main management can be rude at times. However, the staff is always good, patient, and kind.

We lived in DeRidder for way too long and we’ve had kyoto’s many times, but I think last night was our first time to go when it was any kind of busy. Usually we’ll pop in for some sushi, maybe a bento box and then call it a day. Last night was a completely different story.
My wife got her usual, a calamari hibachi dinner, and we each picked a couple of sushi rolls as sides.
The sushi was decent but when we opened the hibachi dinner and took a bite… It was worse than subpar food.. it was awful.
The portions were smaller than we were used to. The rice tasted like sink water with some soy sauce. The calamari was overcooked and grainy, I thought for sure it was expired by the taste. The soup came in a tiny cup and looked like two soups mixed together.(not the clear soup we ordered but a strange mixture of both with seaweed even at the bottom) The onions were undercooked and hard, cold still, even… And the noodles were even hard and greasy..
I’m not one to publicly bash a place but what we paid a total of $70 for was almost completely inedible. The sushi was the only saving grace here but I’m very hesitant to go back.
Well hit the place up again for sushi one day when they’re not busy but I would strongly advise against taking your loved ones here if they have more than a few people dining in.

Very quick service and the appetizer was out pretty quickly. I had the crab puffs for appetizers and they were huge pieces. Normally you get small pieces and these definitely worth it for the price. For the entree I had the Volcano Roll #2. It was also good, huge portions once again and I was not able to finish the entire roll.

never had a bad experience until today. literally no one in the restaurant and yes we were a bigger party but this waitress acted like she had never served a day in her life. so slow, forgot our orders multiple times, rude and very unprofessional. Food was alright when we ACTUALLY got it.

Went for dinner (5pm) on a Saturday. Not busy at all- about 3 other tables dinning during our time there. Overall, okay just have had better quality food a other similar places nearby. Open everyday by 11am. Closes 930pm except Friday & Saturday (10pm)
Pros: comfortable, friendly service, prices are okay
Cons: given wrong food, underseasoned hibachi/steak/noodles, unattentive service, menu is confusing
Location: next to oyo hotel. Noticeable from main highway. Very small building with small parking lot.
Atmosphere: dim lighting. Tables and booths available (tables seat up to 6, booths seat 4 adults comfortably). Seemed clean. No noticeable odors. No torn seats.
Service: friendly but a little unattentive. Went without refills and requested items went forgotten. Some confusion about menu items. Food came out at a decent speed.
Menu: recommend looking on their facebook page for most up to date menu. A good variety but we found it confusing because it lists sushi on 3 different pages- the last 2 pages have descriptions of the sushi but that 1st page doesn’t. Even when reading those descriptions, we still weren’t really sure what we were getting. This menu felt incomplete really. For example, #15 appetizer ika maruyaki doesn’t even finish the description “whole Japanese squid grilled with.”
Food: overall, okay. Nothing super spectacular. We typically go to a place in leesville and we were hopeful that this place would be as good or better to save on the gas. We ordered: crab rangoon ($5 for 6)- large, good, and hot; steak with noodles ($15)- no flavor/seasoning, noodles a little under done; baton rouge roll ($10 for 8 pieces)- needed more sauce and the tempura batter was super thin, it was decent; deridder roll ($11 for 8 pieces)- was given wrong item and even after corrected to right filling it wasn’t fried (it said it was fried on menu). They also serve soup/ramen, other sushi rolls, hibachi items.
Prices: they seemed okay. Most appetizers were $5+, hibachi for dinner was $13+, sushi was $10+.

ZERO stars. EXPENSIVE BAIT. Waited forever for Togo order. Sushimi was FULL of BONES and just nasty and butchered. Called to let them know just now that it had SEVERAL bones in it, and they had a bad attitude and “manager not here” and so I asked in Spanish and the guy said “oh $***” and hung up. The place is not clean or well maintained, and the service sucks. (Attached photos are of the many bones from 3 pieces of this cruddy sushimi deluxe.) If you look at their health inspections on the state’s site LA.GOV, they have many reports positive for coaches and rodent, as well as, many other complaints.

The fact they just updated their menu with an INCREASE in prices considering the terrible quality of food they have, is actually insulting to the community of Deridder. How about you increase quality & clean your restaurant before you try to jump on the band wagon of inflating prices for no reason.

Terrible experience. I’ll just leave it as saying that the incredibly bland chicken katsu was very overdone, and overpriced, for what was given to us all. I understand the restaurant business, I appreciate what servers go through–thats why I tip very well–but, this was a horrible experience. Hopefully, the next time we take our Family there, it will be a better experience and I’ll be able to change my review.
