Soul Taco is a new breed of restaurant that hybridizes the latest trend of fast casual dining with an upscale, casual full service experience. Our menu is constantly evolving and ever changing, similar to the landscape of America. Soul Taco was built on the belief that nothing brings people together better than great food. That is why our culinary vision is to combine the robust flavors of Latin America, the comfort and nostalgia of Southern Cuisine, and the fresh and vibrant ingredients used in California-style cooking to create a melting pot of colorful flavors and forward thinking dishes.
Informal venue for Mexican dishes with a Southern twist, including catfish or fried chicken tacos.

The food was absolutely delicious!!!! One person in our party did receive a lukewarm taco and a room temperature drink but everyone else’s food was impeccable. The flavor of the Jerk Chicken taco was amazing! Now it does have a kick, so if you’re not used to spicy seasoning be cautious! The catfish taco tasted like my grandma was frying fish in the back!! The bean taco was textured perfectly and not mushy like some other bean tacos I’ve had. Their corn tortillas didn’t fall apart which is always a concern when getting tacos. When you order chips and guacamole, it’s unlimited! So while we didn’t get a refill on guacamole, it was great to know we had the option!
The drinks are not batch made— the Jose Palmer is made BY CUP so it was SUPER FRESH!!!!
We were in town for a conference and it was evident that they were understaffed but the server was kind and asked for grace! Justin was our server.
Tacos Ranked in Reverse Order
4. Corn Meal Crusted Catfish – it was good but was just average compared to the other 3 Taco’s
3. Buttermilk Battered Fried Chicken – Very solid taco would have #2 had it not been for #2
2. Nashville Hot Fried Chicken – This taco was loaded with flavor and good heat. This Taco had my taste buds dancing
1. Oxtail Al Pastor – Easy Win for us. Oxtail was extremely flavorful and extremely tender. The meat just melted in your mouth. The Pineapple salsa sent it to another level. (MUST TRY)
Overall I give this place 5 stars from the tacos to the service.
Now the food. Most of the menu items are battered and fried (I suppose that is the “Soul” part), so not exactly a light lunch, but still delicious. I got the Nashville Hot and the Shrimp Po’ Boy. The tacos are about $5 each, but they do offer a lunch special of 3 for $12 for specific options, which is why I didn’t go that route. They were ready very quickly and Pat brought them right over.
Ambience wise, they were pumping somewhat loud pop music, which I enjoyed since I was solo. I could potentially see it being a little loud for a conversation.
All in all, the meal might have been a little heavy for returning to work, but I will absolutely be back in the evening sometime.
adding more because soul taco is still 5-stars delicious. current favorites are still the buttermilk battered fried chicken tacos and the chicken tinga taquitos now (hungry just thinking about them!). bonus points to their jackson ward location which put up hanukkah decorations this year!
