To be fair, the atmosphere is a mall and in a food court. It’s fine atmosphere for on the go lunch between shopping or a day doing things.
The employees have a to-the-point gruff personality. Not to stereotype, but feels like a New York type of attitude. They also seem particularly annoyed by ordering even a simple cheese pizza slice.
The quality of the food is nothing special. Honestly, the same expectations you’d come to have with a frozen pizza from a grocery store or a gas station.
Their prices would rival premium restaurants, attraction dining, and amusement parks. A single slice of plain pizza is $6 which is almost half the price of a tray somewhere else. Specially slices or pepperoni only will run you $8-$9. A can of soda despite it being listed as a bottle costs $4. Unless you have no care of money or even remotely decent food, this place should be avoided at all costs.
If you read other reviews my experience and narrative are similar to so so many!

Wasn’t too impressed at all. It was almost $30 for 2 salads, slice of pizza & 2 sodas. I got the Italian salad which wasn’t even an Italian salad the only thing that was Italian on the salad was the dressing and pasta salad. It was a rip off. I’m surprised this place has such good reviews. I’ll never go here again.

Was told cost gave money didn’t get change. They claimed different price even though menu matched what I was originally told.

Pizza was delicious! Came out hot and ready in minutes. Staff were very polite and helpful. Pizza though was kind of pricey.

When I first moved to Scranton nine years ago, I had brought my children to the play area located in the Marketplace at Steamtown. We had decided to have lunch at Ruano’s, and that is when I realized they cooked NYC style, even the set up of their display of delicious food. We ordered the baked ziti, cheese and buffalo pizza. The food really made me feel at home. When, I met the owner I realized that I knew him from Brooklyn, NYC back in the day. He couldn’t be any nicer, and that adds an extra touch to the overall experience. If you reside in Pennsylvania, or just visiting, do stop by to grab lunch. They are located on the 2nd floor of the Marketplace at Steamtown. I posted a video and pictures for everyone to view.

My wife and I each had a different slice of specialty pizza and fresh fruit salad. I stop here everytime I’m in the area. Food is always fresh and the people are always super friendly!!! Great food and great people!

Ruano’s has been around since I was a mere baby and hasn’t lost its touch one bit! Their food is excellent and their prices are very good as well. I’ll continue to recommend and support this local pizzeria whenever I am in the area.

Had a great lunch, thank you! The Alfredo with chicken and broccoli was excellent and the beef and cheese empanadas were a nice surprise.

Don’t buy any any of this restaurant’s garbage. They can’t even make enough spaghetti for numerous customers, they only make a tiny amount which makes no sense, sometimes they don’t even make any spaghetti at all.
The dips can’t even speak English. I’m really starting to hate this poor excuse of a restaurant.
