I am not for sure what has happened. Today was not a good day. Walk in and took close to 5 minutes to be greeted. Someone said you can set in the bar area and set us down at a very dirty table that had clean plates and napkins. I had to use a napkins to brush all the previous guest crumbs off. Once we set down took another 5 minutes to get our drink order. Then we did receive some chips and salsa. Waiting and waiting to order our queso and nobody ever came back. After looking around the table next to us had been waiting 20 minutes for their food. That table was not happy. We waited over 25 minutes and nobody came. Very disappointed and worried a little about how clean the kitchen would be if they served food on a dirty table. We decided to leave a $10 for our water and chips and salsa. I do not believe they even notice that we left. I wish this place the very best. I will give it some time and if the place is open in the future we will try again.
Party room in the back is a great addition that is a hidden gem because they allow you to decorate then serve a buffet style of their delicious food. Service has always been beyond great!!!
For service, they were super nice but not attentive. It wasn’t busy at all.
Stepping into 1492 Latin Cuisine is like entering a warm and inviting haven, where the aroma of tantalizing spices and the vibrant chatter of fellow diners create a cozy and comforting atmosphere. From the moment I arrived, Sarah, my attentive and friendly server, guided me through the menu’s enticing array of Latin-inspired dishes. Her recommendations were spot-on, catering to my first-time experience and ensuring I savored the best of 1492’s culinary offerings.
The salsa, a symphony of flavors, was the perfect prelude to my dining adventure. Its vibrant freshness and subtle heat danced on my palate, awakening my taste buds for the culinary delights that lay ahead. The house queso, a creamy and cheesy indulgence, was a true testament to the restaurant’s culinary prowess. Its rich, gooey texture and satisfying flavor were a testament to the chef’s expertise in creating comfort food at its finest.
My main course, the tienda la ropa, was a culinary masterpiece. The beef brisket, cooked to tender perfection, melted in my mouth, its savory juices mingling with the flavorful sauce that coated every bite. The beans, while good, could have benefited from a touch more spice or seasoning to elevate the dish to an even higher level.
To complement my meal, I ordered a side of chipotle sour cream, a tangy and smoky condiment that paired perfectly with the tender chicken. Its smoky essence enhanced the chicken’s natural flavors, creating a harmonious blend of tastes that left me wanting more.
1492 Latin Cuisine is indeed a hidden gem, a culinary oasis nestled amidst the bustling city. The food, a symphony of flavors and textures, is a testament to the chef’s passion and expertise. The drinks, crafted with precision and care, are sure to tantalize your taste buds. My daughter had the Cuban asada. The meat was so tuff she could hardly chew on it.
Only thing that was any good was the complementary chips and dip.
Not worth the 50+ dollars
I will recommend checking this place out if you’re looking for Latin food in Oklahoma City! Especially recommend the try7ng your favorite and compare. I also liked the salsa, guacamole, and cheese dip. I shall return for another dish and hope that it blows me away.
I was disappointed with the fried plantains. They were nice and sweet but normally I expect fried plantains to be crispy. You have to fry them twice, once at a low eat to cook them then again at a high heat to crisp them. Their version is just a soggy mess, no texture, no complexity.
