We are a locally owned take out barbecue shop located across the street from Uptown Janesville. Specializing in Texas style smoked barbecue. We offer pulled pork, chicken, brisket and more. All of our sides are from family recipes made from scratch daily. ONLY open in the winter months from November to March. Then travel with us throughout the Summer in our food trailer. Starting in April you can follow us on FB and stalk us throughout Rock County to get your barbecue fix.

Very good bbq
Ribs, pulled pork & mac, and banana pudding are excellent. 100% get again.
Brisket sandwich was meh. I’d pass.
Make sure to get extra bbq sauce as there isn’t a lot on the ribs.
I will go back and would recommend.

I just went here for the first time yesterday, and went back again today because that’s just how good it is!! The portion sizes are great, the flavor is incredible, and prices were super reasonable. Definitely the best mac n cheese i’ve ever had. And not to mention the place was super clean & all the staff is super friendly. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back.

Best BBQ I’ve eaten in Wisconsin! Backyard style all the way… the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches were heaped high, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese and cheesy hash browns hit the comfort food note with no fail. We ate inside and were cozy and warm in January. The cook and the sweet heart behind the cash register both checked in to make sure we were enjoying our food. Great vibes, good people, surprisingly delicious BBQ. We’ll definitely be making the half hour drive down from E side Madison again. (Pro note, go after 1p if you’re looking for ribs or tips) ENJOY!

I was planning a family party (about 20-25 people) for my son’s graduation, and I was considering a chain to cater it. I figured, “…hey, it worked for their high school graduations, sooooo…”
But then I saw one of the Facebook Shorts for Backyard Barbeque, and I decided to roll the dice.
That decision proved to be PHENOMENAL.
First, the communication was awesome. I emailed Heidi how many people I was expecting, and she kindly sent me suggestions as to how much I should order of our choices.
I sent her our picks, and she even corrected my estimate (their estimate was lower than mine, so you can already tell that these people are trustworthy).
Also, before you read the following, understand that delivery and setup are available at an additional charge – just a head’s up.
On the morning of the party, my son and I headed over to their place at 2517 Milton Ave, Janesville, WI, and their staff was kind enough to help us carry our order to our vehicle. The pans were clearly marked, and everything was hot and ready for serving.
Once we got home, we were met with a bunch of family, hungry and ready to eat.
They were not disappointed.
Here are their reviews;
The Brisket: I really can’t get you a good quote on this, because their mouths were full of the delicious brisket. I took their head-nodding as a good sign. Then I tried it myself. It was amazing.
The Pulled Pork: Just as awesome as the Brisket, especially as a sandwich.
The Chicken: See above
The Rib Tips: Awesome. Just awesome.
And then we come to the sides.
The Heavenly Beans: Just trust the name. They live up to it.
Mac and Cheese: Devoured. No leftover containers.
The Southern Green Beans: I don’t know what the “secret” is to these, but some of my family members described them as “life changing”. They’d never had green beans served to them quite like this.
In short, Backyard Barbeque should be on a bigger stage. God Bless their efforts.
Please give them a try. Other than my son’s graduation party, I am completely unaffiliated with the business, but I can’t recommend them more highly.

My fiance and I went for the first time yesterday and hands down the best BBQ ever !!!! I had the beef brisket Mac and cheese, very cheesy, great flavor and the brisket was so tender! My fiance had the beef brisket nachos and he loved it ! I highly recommend them and now we found our new date night place for sure ! I’m hoping one day they can get a bigger space for more dine in customers!

I have had the food a few times. Every time excellent. Service always great l. The owner is a fun fella. A mistake was made i was not upset as qexare humans. I went back quick and all was good. I can’t express enough how the experience was above excellent. I will continue to go there. Food was also amazing. Thank you Backyard Barbecue for the great experience. A full 6 stars I could.

Hands down the best bbq in town! Everything I’ve tried has been great. My go-to is the pulled pork backyard style. The only thing that would make it better is some cornbread. The meat is always tender, the heavenly beans are amazing, and the slaw is great too! Looking forward to having the truck around so we can enjoy the food on days other than Fri/Sat.
