At our Bellevue, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

It’s been a long time since I have been to a Captain D’s. When I saw this one I was excited as the one in my neck of the woods closed years ago! $46 later for 3 people’s dinner and I was shocked to open and see my husband’s 4pc. 2 fish, 2 planks dinner basically had 2 popcorn chicken pieces instead of planks. Freaking expensive of 2 bites of chicken! They used to be 2 pieces of fried chicken battered and fried like the fish and were comparable to the fish. They had taken the clams off the menu, which was sad too. But the chicken was just too much to handle! Yes I contacted them online at the web address on the receipt. They didn’t give an option to upload a photo, so I’m here sharing my experience so you can check before leaving and not drive a half hour to a nursing home to share dinner and learn you had been jipped. In the plus side however, the Cassie was polite and did give me extra tarter sauce when I asked.

If you appreciate great work ethics and job dedication. You have to stop into this store. Travel through the area around 5:00pm today and never been to a Captain D’s before. My wife and I was greeted by the front end staff, he was busy with the drive through but never break contact to us, just to let us know that he will attend to us. We needed time to view the menu, so it worked out perfectly. If he is not already the store manager, he should be. And the food came out just right. Having great employees and great food have to be the dreams of small business owners.
Best wishes to all at this store!

I used to enjoy eating at Captain D’s growing up. Unfortunately, the quality seems to have gone down significantly over the years. I was there a few weeks ago and ordered a simple meal: 2 piece fish with fries and mac and cheese. The fish wasn’t too bad but the mac and cheese and the fries tasted like they had been sitting around for a while just waiting for someone to eat them. I should’ve known better than to finish my meal but I was truly hungry and couldn’t help myself. I regret that decision to this day because not even 2 hours later I threw up a good chunk of it. Mind you, I wasn’t even sick at the time and I’m not allergic to anything I ate that day so the only true explanation was subpar quality control. Save your stomach and dine elsewhere lest you want to ruin your day.

Captain D’s, Captain D’s is not what it used to be. Still somewhat okay. In my opinion over the years Captain D’s gone downhill quite severely. The food is still okay but I have noticed is that the sizes of the fish portions are a lot smaller than they used to be. Most of the food is a reminder of hospital food, not enough seasoning, It’s kind of bland’ so on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give their score about a 4. Years ago when you got a fish fillet from that place it would be at least the size of your hand. Wide, and about 6 to 8 inches long. it was a good-sized piece of fish and when you got three piece dinner you had pretty good-sized fish fillets. Time and time again over the years they have changed their menu around. Back in the day when it was owned by Danner Foods it was a good fish place to go. Oh, I still go every once in awhile maybe once every 5 to 6 months, if that. But the prices have gotten outrageous and like I say, the portions have got smaller. So even though I don’t mind Captain D’s every once in awhile it’s a little disappointing compared to what it used to be in my youth.

The food wasn’t horrible but it was average. The sweet tea tasted old and like they should clean the tea container. The pieces of fish were pretty small in size but everything else was OK. If you are looking for a OK lunch or dinner at an OK place then this is the OK place to be.

Our experience yesterday around 4 was terrible. We waited 15 minutes to be waited on. After we ordered we waited another 35 minutes because the manager didn’t have it together. People in the back cussing each other and blaming each other. Finally got our food got outside and it was not even edible. Fish was cold, shrimp was slimy. Didn’t want to go back in to even bother. Haven’t been to this location in awhile and won’t be back either. I’ll go to Dickson.

I stopped earlier in the day 7/3/2020 and ordered some seafood to eat later for dinner. I ordered the giant fish sandwich last weekend at this same Captain D’s in Bellevue in Nashville, TN; it was very delicious; and came with 2 good sized unbroken fish fillets, cheese, shredded lettuce, tarter sauce, & big soft bun. The giant fish sandwich I ordered today & paid for at the same place only had 1 small to medium fish fillet that had been broken into two pieces & put on a bun with a little shredded lettuce and tarter sauce. I checked the online menu to be sure I was correct and the 1st sandwich was the way they were supposed to be served. As soon as I saw today’s sandwich, I repeatedly tried calling the store’s phone 6 to 7 different times to speak with someone; but it just kept ringing until it finally would go to a fax tone & I’d hang up. I know it’s before a holiday, and the store may have closed early. I will try to contact them within the next couple of days about this. I truly believe it was just a mistake, because all my prior experiences over many years with this Captain D’s have been good ones and it well deserves it’s good reviews. The issue I hope is fixed is the contact phone number in the future having a message being left indicating time if store closes early or is closed for a holiday. This would be a big help to customers with questions/issues.

Horrible experience…..again. Ordered online. Arrived and went to the door to retrieve my order. The door was locked. No signage, no one at the door. I got into the drive-thru line and waited 20 minutes before getting to the microphone. I explained that I had an online order and she said I should have come in the front door—which
Was locked. The food was cold once I got it. I won’t return. This isn’t the first time I have had an experience like this.

Restaurant with dine-in open & had customers inside eating and waiting for orders. Posted hours on door for today reflected 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM. This store’s website reflected it would close at 9:00 PM. HOWEVER, ingress/egress doors locked. Telephoned this store; staff would not answer the telephone. There were 2 customers who had driven 30 minutes to eat here; 2 customers who had driven over 30 minutes to eat here; and, an additional customer trying to eat here also. Customers who had driven 30 or more minutes left with NO service. Most unfortunate this store manager chose to close with customers arriving & willing to wait… We ate elsewhere, returned home, wrote this review, and, it’s just now 830 PM.

The food was OK. Mainly stopped because my Sister loves their catfish dinner. I had to wait in the parking area for my order and the person who brought the order forgot one of the drinks. It is in a very inconvenient location, particularly at night.
