Chill Japanese bistro with a bar featuring creative sushi rolls, noodle dishes & teriyaki entrees.

Ordered the tempura shrimp and vegetables entree thinking it was going to be a small plate. Come to our surprise it is massive! It comes with several pieces of shrimp, sweet potatoes, broccoli, and some other nice little surprises. Would have loved to try some of the special rolls, however it seemed to be a bit pricey.

Love going this, I’ve never been this my first time! Don’t let the outside make you not come! The inside was extremely nice and the food and service was perfect! Our server was a very friendly gentleman and he helped us with some very unusual questions, the food was amazing I got the beef wrapped asparagus with teriyaki 10/10, my mom got the deep fried crab rolls and it was to die for! Overall I think this place needs to be recognized more than it has been, I feel if the outside was redone than this place would thrive in business terms! Great experience, beautiful inside, amazing server, great food and kind people! Also pretty affordable!!

I’m so happy Golden Rolls is in our community. We order about once every other month and it never disappoints. We have always had really good rolls with fresh ingredients. Even ordering from other places in McHenry County, we continue to come back to Golden Rolls. Keep up the good work!

Great sushi. I’ve been to most of the sushi restaurants in McHenry county, this place continues to be my favorite for quality. The Maguru salad and the peppercorn tuna are my favorite menu options. Miso soup is also better than most. The staff is friendly. Sometimes they don’t have experienced bar tenders, so I stick to beers when I dine in.

The food is always fresh & excellent. They have plenty of appitizers, entrees, and there are some food choices that are not raw too. There is something for everyone. Our family is never disappointed in our selections. Servers are always attentive and nice. It’s a nice atmosphere inside. It’s our favorite sushi restaurant.

Wow what a great place! Do NOT let the outside scare you away from it, this was our first time here. Yes they are a little pricier BUT you absolutely get your moneys worth! We are avid sushi eaters and have tried many places and this was the first time dining somewhere we didn’t feel that they were stingy on the sushi at all! In fact I’ve never seen sushi rolls as BIG as they were here! Had the mini Godzilla roll….EXCELLENT! Crazy Roll, rainbow roll and Philly roll…all very good! Service was excellent as well, the place was literally spotless and very very nice inside. Very nice selection of food, even for the non sushi eaters. We will be back!

I got invited to eat here by a friend. I was a little hesitant about eating here because how the outside looks. I was wrong ,the inside was very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly. Food was very very good ! I highly recommend the calamari for an appetizer.

Update: yup! Still high quality and generous portions! We were the only ones for lunch on a Wednesday… They need more customers. $17 bento box in the images…
5 stars doesn’t mean it is a 5 star restaurant; it means I really, really liked it! We wanted something a little different without driving too far.We were so happy we gave this place a try. 2 adults, 3 kids (ages 2-6). Fancy enough for a date (we forgot about the mini golf and batting cages around us once inside), casual enough to stop in after taking the kids to the park. Sushi was prepared generously. The ingredients were very fresh. No plastic grass here! My sashimi slices were on a fine sea kelp that was on a shiso leaf which sat ontop of a huge mound of finely shredded daikon. The miso soup was very flavorful (I only got 2-3 sips because my kids hijacked my bowl). The prices were amazingly reasonable (Sushi rolls starting at $3.00!). The kids got the chicken fried rice and chicken noodles which were both adult portions running at $10 ea. I wish they had children’s portions, although I didn’t ask. Anyhoo, we had a huge amount to take home. I definitely prefer this to Bistro Wasabi, even though this is a BYOB establishment. Service was attentive and prompt. It’s my new favorite neighborhood restaurant!
