Thanks to the military, I’m well traveled (about 11 countries)
I have been to Japan and eaten at many Izakaya in my time. This was a surprising little find! We stumbled across this place after leaving Target and thought we’d give it a try.
We walked in, and were seated almost immediately. The inside decor is very reminiscent of a night market… just missing the clouds of steam and tiny, cramped spaces lol.
Well lit, nicely decorated and clean.
We ordered the tantanmien, the garlic tonkatsu and some fried gyoza. The gyoza were a bit overfried, but the ramen was tasty. The tantanmien broth was good, the noodles nice and chewy. Wifey said her ramen was very good. The bowls are a good size, albeit a bit overpriced. ($19??)
I was surprised to see there were no condiments on the table.. authentic ramen spots have small condiment jars with chili oil, vinegar, garlic, sesame seed etc. so you to adjust salt, heat or whatever you want..
Here there is only a small bottle of soy on the table. They make you pay for any additional condiments, which is kinda chintzy. We paid over $60 for 2 bowls of ramen, 1 appitizer and 2 cokes.. FOR LUNCH.. I mean.. atleast dont charge people for chili oil lol..
Staff was nice, food was good.. (pricy..) Overall, this is a nice, clean little spot to go get a decent ramen and enjoy a chill vibe.

I originally discovered this place doing an Uber order but decided I needed to try it out and am glad I did. I haven’t had food this good or authentic since I was stationed in South Korea. I had the Octopus Dumplings and they melted in my mouth. They were extremely tender and cooked to perfection. I also ordered the rain ow roll and it was amazing. Other places have tried to give you bigger pieces of sushi to compensate for the la k of flavor but this was magnificently prepared and tasted phenomenal. I won’t order sushi at any other place in Lake County ever again. The Seafood Ramen was as good, if not better, than what I remember when I was overseas. The flavor, the aroma, the spiciness… wow! The fish cakes were the best I’ve had since coming back to the States and the whole experience was better than some I’ve had at fan service and more expensive restaurants. If you are in Mount Dora and want ama,ing Ramen or sushi, look no further than Hokkaido. Ask for Reyna! She took great care to make sure I had a full glass and held the Ramen until I was finished with the appetizers. We need more people like her in the food service industry. Thank you very much Reyna for making it a highly enjoyable experience.

Best Rame joint between Clermont and Mt Dora.
The noodles were good, high quality ingredients. Pretty good flavor in the broth. The eggs were bomb.
Kids meal was good too. Both my kids ate it all. Almost all.
They were super busy filling to go orders, so the wait was a little longer than I wanted, but nothing that bothered us. They were very friendly so that helped with a good experience.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this birria ramen. Every single time I order it, it’s packed with rich, slow-simmered flavor that tastes like it’s been cooking all day. The broth is deep, savory, and perfectly spiced, soaking into the noodles in the best way possible. The birria itself is incredibly tender and juicy, practically melting in your mouth with every bite.
What really sets this place apart, though, is the consistency. Whether I’m ordering on a busy night or a random craving day, the quality never changes. It always arrives hot, flavorful, and just as amazing as the last time — which says a lot.
I order from here at least once a month, and it never disappoints. It’s one of those dishes you think about long after you’ve finished it, and it keeps pulling you back for more. If you’re a fan of bold flavors and comforting food, this birria ramen is an absolute must-try.

Tried it from the Uber Eats platform, ordered Ramen bowl, yummy roll, coconut shrimp, and gyoza. Ate everything but the bowl as it was very spicy…everything else was amazing….but I still wanted to try the bowl so the following week went to the restaurant itself. Got the same bowl again the Tantanmen non spicy and mango slush…the bowl did not disappoint, it was amazing. The slush is offered with reduced sugar and had crystal Boba. This place will definitely be on rotation of great places to eat. The size of the bowl was worth the pice 19.00 and would highly recommend.

One would think spending literally $50.00 for two Ramen bowls some sesame and octopus balls you would get what you paid for. YOU DON’T! 1st they messed up the veggie bowl, next charged me $1.00 for a spoonful of chili oil, 3rd NO octopus in the “”octopus”” balls, just mushy breading. The only correct thing was the sesame red bean paste balls. I called thinking they would offer the same meal next time as a co.pebsation. I got, there are no managers and the employee took my number and said she would pass along the concern to the OWNER, JOY. I then received a call from Yaxiu Yan who stated she was the manager and upon explaining practically everything was wrong she wanted to just issue me a $20.00 credit in which I declined and now, will find another Ramen restaurant! BEWARE SPENDING $50+ and getting $15.00 food quality.

Staff was super friendly and greeted me shortly after arriving. Got a table even though I was a single. Was able to order quickly.
I’d had high hopes for, “lake county’s only,” given the menu and its authentic offerings. I ordered the Takoyaki octopus dumplings which were tasty. Doughier than their origins. Still delicious but more like a gooey hush puppy in density.
I was torn between the chicken ramen and the limon. I got the chicken ramen set with the spicy limon broth, after the recommendation (which was mostly based on what others ordered and not what the server had tasted). The chicken was thick cut and not tender. The broth wasn’t chicken-y or limon (citrus?) or spicy? No spice set was offered, either. Only soy sauce on the table.
The noodles were cooked well, albeit not fresh which is to be expected. The egg was perfect as was the bok choy and bamboo shoots served. Admittedly, I wanted a richer broth. More flavor and definitely more umami. I’ll give them another try, maybe the tonkotsu, but if you’re looking for a taste of Japan, this is a distant adjacent and needs some flavor work.
