This place was a wonderful find today. Visiting from SC & found a gem!! The food was so delicious and very reasonable. The staff was so friendly & courteous and they really made you feel welcomed and at home. The atmosphere in the entire place was amazing. It must be a local favorite cause most of the people that came in were called by name & greeted openly. Me & my daughter witnessed the best most friendly interactions between the customers & staff. It was truely a wonderful day to enjoy such wonderful food & friendly folks. I had a 2 piece chicken dinner with potato salad, Mac n cheese, blackberry cobbler and my daughter had grilled cheese, hush puppies & chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. Had to get my husband a dinner to go he loved his fried chicken and mashed potatoes & gravy. Best fried chicken I’ve had in a long time!!

We needed a gift card from Kroger grocery, so to Martinsville, VA we went. Naturally, I researched restaurants in the area because a girl’s gotta eat! Uptown Martinsville is a really cute town with two main streets. They have free parking on the streets and several free parking lots. Did I mention all parking is FREE?! We parked FOR FREE and walked around. They really keep their town clean and you can tell the residents are proud of their town. Everyone was friendly and would speak as they passed by.
Our goal was Walsh’s. This is a small, counter service, eatery with maybe 8-10 tables. They had a sign on the door stating they were short staffed and to please be patient. I’ve seen this same comment on a lot of businesses and I get it. However, they run this restaurant like a well oiled machine. They use preprinted order pads and then write in special requests. They pass the ticket thru the kitchen window and say ORDER UP. I felt like I had stepped back in time and I loved it! When the food is done, they bring it to you. I ordered the clam strip dinner with a chicken thigh on the side. Don’t judge me. Hubs got the 3 piece all white chicken dinner. Most places would give you a breast and two wings. Walsh’s gives one wing and two breasts! The clams were good but that chicken…delicious! The skin was well seasoned and really crispy and the chicken was really tender and moist. The potatoes were instant but ok. The biscuit was fantastic! We would definitely get the chicken again but we’ll try different sides.

Walsh’s Chicken & More is a friendly down home restaurant which still cranks out great chicken, burgers and fish even after the previous location toppled from a wildfire. I think it is a treasure and a much welcomed part of the community whole. I am able to use wi-fi inside of the establishment The customer service is good and the meals are priced decently.

I ordered the grilled chicken and cheese wrap to go. There were 11 hard Gristle pieces in 1 wrap. That was disgusting.. It upset my stomach. I will not be going back. I took a picture of the hard gristle pieces.

Hometown favorite. Excellent fried chicken. I have enjoyed the 4 piece chicken tenders dinner basket with 2 sides of your choice and a fluffy biscuit, too. Food is cooked fresh and comes out hot and tasty. I highly recommend their cobbler: Peach, Blackberry, and apple. You will get generous portions of food. Absolutely delicious. Great diner and very friendly staff. Love it.

Okay now, I got 8 piece family meal with 1 large side 3 small. I got no complaints on how anything tastes it was really good supposed to feed family of four, however, The three smalls is nothing more than 3 tablespoons full in a small little container that to me is like a sample cup. I also got the chicken liver plate which came with a side and a biscuit grand total about $53. Ain’t that a mind paying for good food and the food is good The portions are insane.

Very good, I was a little disappointed because I had ordered about an hour before I picked up the chicken. Some pieces were old and dry. I’m not complaining but for that price I expect my food to be perfect.

Very good chicken. There were a couple things I was disappointed about when opening up my order but as soon as I dug into the food I realized why it was not needed. The fried chicken was not like anything friend chicken I’ve ever had. It reminded me of chicharron con carne which is Mexican deep fried pork with the meat and fat fried together; this chicken topped authentic Korean friend chicken in South Korea. The potato salad was fresh, not like other places where you go and it tastes like it’s been sitting in the fridge for a while or tastes like fridge. The biscuit I was disappointed did not come with butter or honey but as soon as you bite into it, the flavors are So overwhelming, it doesn’t need anything. I can see why this place is always packed.

Quite the classic this little restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. Prices are really really great considering the times we live in. Definitely one of the top places in town that’s easy on your pocket, without a doubt. As for the atmosphere, it’s lovely. The people are great, it’s usually bustling, but small. Close quarters if you choose to dine in. But given the fact that they relocated after a fire and we still get to enjoy them, and the fact that you can get cobbler in a variety of flavors whenever they’re open makes up for anything they’re lacking.

If you’re not into ambiance but good good reasonably price food then Walsh’s Chicken is for you. This place has ample parking and a a lot of good little stores nearby.
