Started in Montana, Taco del Sol offers burritos and tacos influenced by the flavors from the iconic burrito shops in the San Francisco Mission District. The first Taco del Sol opened in 1997 and was located on Higgins Ave. in downtown Missoula. Since then, it has expanded across Montana and eventually to other states through an entrepreneurial franchise program. Each Taco del Sol is locally owned and designed to integrate into the surrounding neighborhood. The Hamilton franchise is family owned and operated.

I hate to give a local business one stars. Especially since so many restaurants have changed over the years, and this is an establishment that has been in the Bitterroot for a while. However, the food I had at this newer location was just awful. My fish taco was mostly frozen and my steak taco was soggy and cold. The tap beer tasted not even like an IPA, and considering the price it was extremely disappointing. The service was a bit abrasive to put it nicely, and I felt very frustrated after leaving this establishment. We were the only people there and so it’s not like they were slammed. I wish I could get this $50 and some dollars back, honestly. I hope this was a fluke.

Ever since moving to Montana, this was my go to lunch spot when I worked in Hamilton! They have the most fast paced, friendly employees ever, and I love coming here whenever I get the chance. Since moving towns, there’s one in my hometown of Florence now, so I don’t have to make a 30 minute commute! Their tacos and just the food alone is delicious. Definitely worth the stop, if you’ve never been.

One of my favorite lunch spots. The food is fresh & delicious. The staff is friendly & welcoming, & the owner is local. They’re space is clean, without being sterile. Highly recommend the shredded pork.

Had to edit this review! My 1st time wasnt the best but musta been a noob or someone that didn’t put their “Sol” into it. It was good food (fish tacos) but nothing to talk about, same as what I can make. I ordered the same thing a couple days ago, fish tacos, and holy hell they were fantastic. I even called in an order today for my lunch break and it was just as AWESOME if not better. Fast service and F*%## awesome food! I HIGHLY suggest the fish tacos if you haven’t already!
