Sakae Sushi is an absolute gem! I was impressed by the freshness and quality of the sushi—it rivals some of the higher-end spots but without the pretentious vibe or steep prices. The sushi was flavorful, and expertly prepared. You can tell they really care about what they’re serving.
The presentation was clean and elegant, and everything comes out at absolutely beautifully.
The service is consistently warm and attentive. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout, they’re organized and efficient.
The atmosphere strikes a great balance—relaxed and welcoming, but still polished enough for a nice dinner out. Whether it’s a casual sushi night, a date, or a small celebration, this place delivers every time.

I read and read reviews and most of them comment about how it’s not the most appealing looking restaurant on the outside, but once you walk inside-it changes the atmosphere. It’s cute little quaint restaurant. The food is incredible, and the presentation is beautiful as well. Very well done. We ordered the veggie tempera (delicious), as well as the YAYA, Five Star, Windy City and Philadelphia Roll with fresh salmon, it was delicious. Will definitely come back..

We were a bit skeptical with the 4.9 star rating, but after our experience realized it was well deserved. The fish were excellent. Fresh, delicious and plenty. The chef’s presentation added to the experience. One of the servers was relatively inexperienced but the other one compensated for it many times over. It’d also have been good to have a menu for the wines and sake. The sushi beats any other that I’ve had in US. And they had gluten free soy sauce!

We go here weekly. A gem of a sushi restaurant. Very clean and fresh, with wonderful service, always. I’d highly recommend the Kamikaze roll. If you prefer hot sushi, the Champaigne Urbana or Sunny Delight rolls are on point.

***Update over a year later: this is still my favorite restaurant. We still do pick up and dine in regularly! They have amazing staff (especially Shane), it’s always clean, and the food is perfect. My only criticism is that since they don’t take reservations I haven’t been able to host a birthday party here.***
